Setback!

I played the Hoth level and it looked like crap compared to the same on XP, no snow, no blizzard, just some 5 yr old child's drawings on the wall. The interior of the base seemed the same. I'll see if the jungle at the end is affected also.

Game crashes when I update to the latest ATI drivers! (Catalyst 10.5)

1. Go to the driver download selection page at the ATI website: Graphics Drivers & Software
2. Select the options which suit your graphics card, and then click Display Results.
3. Under the heading which starts ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 Suite for..., click the Previous Drivers link.
4. Click Catalyst 10.4.
5. Download the Display Driver (downloading the Full Software Suite also works, but the Display Driver download is slightly smaller )
6. Run the installer, and make a note of where the ATI install files will be extracted to. By default it will be C: \ATI.
7. Wait for the files to extract, and on the next window (should be the Catalyst Install Manager), click Cancel to cancel the installation.
8. Go to the directory you wrote down earlier, where the install files were extracted, and navigate into the Support directory, and then the directory which begins 10-4_.
9. Navigate into the Packages/Drivers directory.
10. Keep entering the first (and only) directory visible until there are no more directories to enter. For me, this was C: \ATI\Support\10-4_vista64_win7_64_dd\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A _INF\B_98282 (for a Windows 7 64-bit driver).
11. Find the file atioglxx.dl_, and copy this file to your Jedi Academy's GameData directory.
12. Copy and paste the below batch script code into a new file called atifix.bat, and save it to the GameData folder.

expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll

Alternatively, you can run the command directly from the command prompt, and skip the last step.

13. Run the atifix.bat file.

The problem described in this thread is supposed to been fixed with recent drivers, so you don't need to anything described above. Just make sure you're using the latest drivers for your video card.

It sounds like you've got a completely different problem, though. More information about what you're trying to do and what exactly isn't happening the way you expect it to might help solve the problem.

I can not find this atifix.bat file, why?

Found the fix on several forums, including this post on thejawaclan.com by jedi:

One of the member had this problem so i thought i might as well post it here.

Follow these steps:

1. Go to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/10-4/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx?&lang=English (scroll down and download only the driver)

2. Install the driver (dont install the control center if you already have it)

3. Then go here (C: \ATI\Support\10-4_vista64_win7_64_dd\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B_98282)

4. Look for the file "atioglxx.dl_" and copy it to your JKA GameData folder)

5. Open notepad and add this command: "expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll" without the quotes

6. Save the notepad under the name of atifix.bat

7. Put that batch file in your GameData folder and run it

8. Run JKA =D (Dont forget to run JKA as an admin)

PS: dont worry about having 2 driver versions. It will always take the newest one.
PSS: JKA might crash on startup once in a while, just run it again and it will work

Note this reply with further ingo by Soulhound:

Just Adding a Little Bit,
If the Batch File Doesn't Fully Execute and Create the File in the GameData Folder, then

1. Drag the Batch File (atifix.bat) you Made and the atioglxx.dl_ File To Your Desktop.

2. Execute the Batch File (atifix.bat) and the .dll File Should Appear on Your Desktop (Name of File Should be - atioglxx.dll).

3. Drag the 2 Files, atioglxx.dl_ the Newly Made .dll (atioglxx.dll should be its name) Back to your JKA GameData Folder.

4. Rinse and Repeat Step 8

The entire batch file contains exactly one command string:

expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll

All it does is expand the compressed dll file. If you're not afraid of the command line, you can do it the simple way:

1. Make sure you have the right driver and the compressed dll file, atioglxx.dl_ in your JKA GameData folder.

2. From the Start menu, run, CMD to get to the command line.

3. Use the DOS command, CD \[GameData folder and path].

4. Manually enter the command:

expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll < Enter >.

If you need further help, just search Google for "atifix.bat" (including the quotes).

Hope that gets it for ya. :)

Do not use the atifix.bat file or any similiar fix involving copying an old version atioglxx.dll.

The bug in Quake 3 engine used in Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast that causes the problem described in this thread already has a work around in current ATI/AMD drivers. If updating your drivers to the latest version doesn't solve the problem you're having with the game then following these instructions will likely not fix the problem either. You only risk causing more problems by doing so.

I have tried everything in this multiple times, and I seem to be backtracking, as it doesn't even hit the splash art before it encounters an error. Hopefully you guys can help me out.
