intel is probably the most influential personal computer industry participant, even despite of the fact that their influence began to become weaker in the recent years, the company still can ?kill? or ?spare? certain technology achievements. This time the company decided to spare the DDR400 memory from falling into oblivion on the mainstream market and adopt it in the future chipsets such as CaterWood and Springdale what caused JEDEC to change their opinion not to ratify the standard.

That's good to know. However, I wish there would be more of a push for DDR2. There is going to be a lot of clockspeed headroom upon the transfer to DDR2.
