Funny, though I think it should not be legal to use someone's name in a website name against them. I bet Bush's supporter is really pissed.

Definitely a careless and dumb oversight on the part of the campaign. If you're a serious candidate for POTUS, your campaign should take reasonable steps to prevent these kinds of shenanigans -- domain names only cost like $9 or something, you'd think with these zillion dollar campaigns they'd be able to buy pretty much any domain that might be used.

Quick, let's figure out who might run in 2020 and buy all the possible domain names, and create editorial sites as to why not vote for that person. With zillion dollar campaigns, they *might* be able to convince me to express my first amendment right on some other domain.

I'll buy it from you for $100.
You just have to spend your $9 and make a windfall profit.
It's that easy, right?

Never said it was easy, but if I was part of a campaign for a candidate, I'm pretty sure I'd try to buy the domain names for that person fairly early on, when they are just considering running. You can't tell me spending $300 on domain names when you're thinking about running is a big deal to these folks, they are all multi-millionaires.

I'm not looking to profit off this, just saying it's an oversight for the campaign staff IMO.

The Bush campaign also doesn't own www.jebbushforpresident.com. That domain name is owned by a gay couple encouraging readers to "have a Chat, Share Viewpoints, and Learn from Each Other."

From that site:

In 2008, Charlie and I were living in Austin, Tx. President Obama was in the house (not ours) and there was a whole lot of dialogue already about the next election cycle. There was even an internet meme joking about the 2016 race being Jeb VS Chelsea.

There was also legislature being passed in Texas that was intended to make legal documents and contracts for any couple in a relationship that mimicked marriage null and void. Many of our family and coworkers would say things like, "Oh, that doesn't affect you!"

Yeah, it does... badly! Here's the reality of that scenario... Charlie and I have several legal documents that are intended to protect each other in the event that something happens to one or both of us. Most of these documents are intended to protect us just like a marriage license protects a heterosexual couple. Let's imagine I'm hurt in a car accident and I'm in the hospital in a vegetative state. Our legal documents should allow for Charlie to handle all of the medical decisions, access to all finances, and basically be the person responsible for everything.

With the legislation that was passed, anybody... and I mean ANYBODY... could petition the court for control based on the fact that we were in a relationship that mimicked marriage. All of our documents would be thrown out, my medical care would now be up to the state, and our finances would fall into the control of someone else. There was no reason at all for this to pass, but pundits everywhere were saying it was in defense of marriage... which makes sense how? It doesn't... AT ALL!

So, why JebBushForPresident.com? Simply put, he was pretty vocal about not extending rights to LGBTQ peoples, and the domain name was available. Honestly, he's got family connections, a whole lotta cash, and a political party behind him... We've got the internet and a couple of hours a day outside of work, school, and tending to the household. This is how we're trying to make a difference. -- cj

I don't think that applies to famous people I'd bet they'd fall back on its a news site. Silly mistake for Jebs team to make.

And....haha.....

But we do not know how long Trump has had it. We have been learning how smart(!) Trump is in politics through this primary season. Trump has been contemplating his presidential ambition for a while and it probably did not take much to figure that Jeb! would be running this time around.

Did I just say that Trump knew what Jeb! was going to do even before Jeb! knew himself?

Edit: Oh, it was a mistake by Jeb!

Didn't MS almost lose homail.com by not paying licensing on time and didn't some hotmail user grab the name to protect it but MS fought him over payment to transfer the name. I kind of remember it was linked to some guys corporate card who either retired or left MS. Happened about 15 years ago.

I refuse to believe Republicans learned how to use the internet, much less make a website.
They must have hired some kid to do it.
Probably an Indian kid who didnt know about them yet.

That's because Trump isn't actually Republican, he's our savior and future god emperor. I love this election cycle so damn much.

Perhaps not but what does it say about this guy's organizational skills and ability to delegate the right person to do the job...

...or severe lack thereof.

His best decision... at least for his family might have been hiring Katherine Harris....
