JCPenney charges to pick up items in-store ordered online. Even in stock items.

Which, I think, is balls.

You could argue that no one should shop at JCPenney anyway but I needs curtains.

Do they charge if you order by phone from their catalog? JCPenney is one of the last companies I'd expect to charge for ordering online, because they've been taking orders and delivering through their stores since before the web existed.

That's on the same level of stupid as Ticketmaster charging a "convenience" charge to let you print your tickets out at home.

What kind of charge is it? Is it a "pick up" charge or a shipping charge or what? If you had simply gone to the store for it would you have had to pay the charge or perhaps a higher price for the item?

Oh and it's their prerogative to charge for whatever. You needed something bad enough to buy it from them anyway, so they win in your case.

It's a $5.50 "shipping and handling" charge. I'd buy the curtains in store but they're 50% less on the website than they are in store. JCP does not price match it's own website.

yeah, retarded fees. I bought some baseball tickets, and I was charged a $12 convenience fee to print them out.

Did you go to the customer service desk and try? I remember having an issue with a coat I bought for my son online and I ended up making $10 swapping it out.

But you probably haven't actually TALKED to anyone about this...huh?

Oh quit complaining. They're probably selling the thing practically at cost and are charging the shipping to cover the cost of having the item shipped to their store originally, not the cost of shipping it to you. It's still a good deal.

They charge a convenience fee regardless, they charge $1,95 for the priv of using your own and ink and time to print them.

I noticed the same thing at Eddie Bauer. Their instore prices were higher, the difference being almost exactly the cost to ship when ordering online. So you pay the same out of pocket either way.

Fees fees fees everywhere. I'd never order from JCpenny knowing that.

Do the curtains match the drapes?
