JBL SUB1500 $249 ((( aka Revel Ultima Sub 15 subwoofer system part )))

I have a Hsu VTF-3 MKII.

Granted, it was $700, but worth easily twice as much. I'm surprised my house is still standing after the poundings it takes. My dog runs away every time I turn it on.

I'll stick with my adire tempest @ $125 😛

The Tempest is OK but I could hear the difference using the JBL aka Revel Sub.

so what box did you build and what are you powering it with? The specs look like it would be fine in a closed box.

Probably easier to get the NHT kit for $375 at Madisound NHT kit near botttom

or get the nht 1259 and make a closed box -

vented actually and driven by a Crown K2.

I don't know how many of you have actually heard this sub in action, but we carry Revel in our store, and this thing is not a joke. I run a 214L Tempest + 250W PE amp (pretty standard fare) at home, and ontop of carrying Velodyne's DD series, the Revel Ultima Sub kicks serious ass.

If I wasn't considering picking up a Velodyne DD-12 at cost, I might be tempted to sell off my current sub and go with this one.

Damn....this forum gets me into more trouble....:Q

I have been mulling over building a sub for some time now. Suffice to say I know squat about cabniet design but can build a decent box (woodworking skill-wise)...

Somebody PLEASE tell me it wouldn't be worth it to spend $250 on this.....

But then the side of me that sees the "great deal!" in this starts whispering...listen to what they're saying....

HELP!😀

This seems like a good deal on the sub, but lately I've been hard pressed to find good cheap home sub amplifiers... any suggestions?

(And no, I don't want a crappy 125w plate amp or something like that...)

Back in the day my buddy and I would cruise pawn shops and find the biggest heaviest late 70s/early 80s amps/receivers we could. This stuff tended to be fantastic for powering subs. But lately haven't seen as much, or ebay has killed the market, or ??

Any Crown amp will do the job but I recommend the K1 or K2, no fan and plenty of power.

The problem with Crown (and the other popular name, QSC) is that you are still paying a lot for the name, unfortunately...PE came out with a bulkier version of their famous 250W plate amp last year, with a 500 and 1000W plate amp, I believe, and at $3xx, you really can't beat it, if you're trying to save money but still get solid performance.
