I've been doing it every day for the past 3 months. The parking lot at work is under construction so there's no where to park. About 100+ people do it everyday, twice.

Well maybe someone started bitching to the police about this. Now they are damned if they do, damned if they dont. Technically it is against the law, so do they just turn a blind eye, or do the pass the word to write tickets if they see it happening, maybe reducing the amount of people jaywalking, or at least showing that they are trying.

I can pretty much guarantee you that they are not getting much enjoyment out of writing those tickets, but its a job.

If I get caught, I get caught.

That doesn't change the fact I'm going to suck it up and pay the fine instead of b!tching on some forum.

If only a bus came along and hit you in the head for saving 5 seconds.

Then we would have no lifers and elite members.

The point is the OP's being a bitch about it. You break the law, take it like a man. Don't whine like you didn't do anything wrong.

Which was my original question in the post. What is the fine.

you could try looking for the relevant county/city code...which are likely to be somewhere online

Once he wrote up the ticket I started to be, of course.

Heh, well you realize that being a prick actually does not improve your chances of the ticket being dropped. For one, he probably put an admin note on the ticket about your attitude, and secondly if for some reason he had to go to court, he'll remember you and make sure that you get stuck.

Good job!

IIRC, las vegas carries VERY steep fines for jaywalking. Then again, a decent amount of people get plowed by buses every year.

Really? Any idea how many? Want to see if there is any other city with more pedestrian fatalities than Toronto. We have over 50 this year. Note, only a quarter or so have been by a bus.

I think there's only 2 codes I have memorized because I write them so often.

And what does his age matter? I was sworn in at 20 years old.

I was thisclose to getting one in Dallas once. The only thing that saved me was I did it right in front of a cop.

I guess he knew I must have been from out of town to be so stupid to jaywalk right in front of him, so he called me over and asked me if I saw that the light was red. I said yes. He asked me if I saw the other people waiting for the light to change and I said yes. Then to my complete amazement he asked me if I was from Pittsburgh - yes!

I guess we have a nationwide reputation. I only got a warning that they don't tolerate jaywalking in Dallas.

His age matters because 1) if he were older he might have remembered the code and 2) probably would've gave me a warning for not being a rookie.

Yeah, remembering the code is a big deal.

Just because he's 25 doesn't mean he's a rookie. When I'm 25 I'll have 5 years of experience.
