People who jay walk are like animals crossing the road w/o looking, and you know what happens to animals crossing the road w/o looking. Yes, they end up getting road killed.

Oh but the (animals) DO look! I remember seeing rats in NY that would wait on the curb for the traffic to clear before crossing. Some would stand on their hind feet for better views especially if there were cars parked blocking the view! Street smart rats!

What campus was she at? I've attended a number of schools, U of M, UNLV, U of A, UNM, NMSU and, I've never heard of anyone being ticketed for jaywalking.

I jaywalked right in front of a cop in Dallas once. Crossed against the light with not a single car in sight for a half-mile. When I got to the other side, where the cop was standing, he called me over and asked if I didn't notice all the other people standing there waiting for the light. I said I did, but checked for traffic and saw it was clear. Then he asked me if I was from Pittsburgh - I pulled out my driver's license and showed him his amazing guess was correct.
Luckily for me, my lack of concern that he was standing there and the reputation that Pittsburgh has for rampant jaywalking got me just a warning. I guess it was obvious that I had no idea I had done anything wrong.
I still think it was amazing he guessed that.

Funny, the squirrels around here always seem to wait for a car to come and THEN start running across the road. It's like they're constantly playing a game of chicken.
