a lady friend of mine was walking on campus. She was crossing an intersection. The light was green but no car was present. A campus police stop her and gave her a ticket for $50. First time i ever hear of police enforcing jay-walking laws.

PWN. I hate jay walkers.

😕

People who jay walk are like animals crossing the road w/o looking, and you know what happens to animals crossing the road w/o looking. Yes, they end up getting road killed.

A co-worker of mine got one while we were visiting Dallas.

Only then did the locals warn us about jaywalking. lol

Agreed. Jaywalkers are always bound to get run over because they are too stupid to look where they're going.

i jay walked in front of 4 police in front of the capitol
they looked at me but didnt give me a ticket

i totally forgot that there was some type of function for the police right around the cap

i didnt jaywalk when i went back to my office

Oh but the (animals) DO look! I remember seeing rats in NY that would wait on the curb for the traffic to clear before crossing. Some would stand on their hind feet for better views especially if there were cars parked blocking the view! Street smart rats!

What campus was she at? I've attended a number of schools, U of M, UNLV, U of A, UNM, NMSU and, I've never heard of anyone being ticketed for jaywalking.

Funny, the squirrels around here always seem to wait for a car to come and THEN start running across the road. It's like they're constantly playing a game of chicken.

ROFL. A cop tried to give me a ticket for jaywalking at my campus. I crossed at a diagonal when the light was green (with no cars in sight), and I hear a yell from the side I just crossed from. He was motioning for me to come back and said something about jaywalking. I pretended I couldnt hear him and just kept walking. I was banking on him being too lazy to leave his other cop buddy and chase me down.

I jaywalked right in front of a cop in Dallas once. Crossed against the light with not a single car in sight for a half-mile. When I got to the other side, where the cop was standing, he called me over and asked if I didn't notice all the other people standing there waiting for the light. I said I did, but checked for traffic and saw it was clear. Then he asked me if I was from Pittsburgh - I pulled out my driver's license and showed him his amazing guess was correct.

Luckily for me, my lack of concern that he was standing there and the reputation that Pittsburgh has for rampant jaywalking got me just a warning. I guess it was obvious that I had no idea I had done anything wrong.

I still think it was amazing he guessed that.

Yeah! That's a good question!!

I might expect someone to get a ticket on a regular city street, but here at UBC everyone jaywalks wherever they want on campus and no one cares.

Sqirrels playing chicken. That's awesome.

Yeah they're starting to enforce that near college campuses now.

I also heard cops are setting up traps for drivers in this city where they enacted a new law that drivers are supposed to stop if a person is near a crosswalk. They would have a plain clothes cop stand near a crosswalk and if the driver didn't stop, they'd pull them over. That's some sh!t right there
