You have no clue about Jay Leno and his car collection do you? He is about as far from materialistic as possible. He owns those cars not because he can brag about it (I mean who would brag about a Stanley Steamer?), but because he ENJOYS DRIVING them and working on them. He doens't have any Porsches (or any German cars for that matter) nor does he have any Ferraris. Each car he owns means something to him and/or has made an impact to automotive industry. He has an original Duesenburg and a Pierce Arrow. You know the American cars that were the WORLDS BEST car, surpassing even Benz, Maybach, Rolls and Bugatti. His Duesenburg came with a stock DOHC V8 that could cruise at 80mph all day long. This is a car from the early 90s people.
You know that Jay Leno will pull over and help people on the road if their car is broken? And if his car is broken, he will pull over and work on it himself? When he enters his classics in Concour 'Elegance, he prepares the car himself; he doesn't send it off to some classic restorer shop like other people do. He puts his sweat and blood into it!
A long time ago I posted a bunch of articles from Popular Mechanic written by Jay Leno regarding cars. Maybe a suscriber can find it and post the link again (I know Ornery read that cause I distinctly remember a post from him in that thread). I suggest you read those articles to gain an insight into Leno and his appreciation for cars.
In short, Jay Leno is one of the greatest and most prolific car enthusaist in the world, and he's a geniunely nice guy as well. I aspire to have his collection and his attitude/personality towards cars and ppl.

Sure thats nice, but hardly impressive.
Keanu Reeves would be much more of a celebrity personal hero than this guy would ever be, someone who lives in simplicity and gives tons of his excess to others, rather than hoarding his life with useless materialism, like Leno and his collection.

Jay and Mavis are very well-known philanthrophists - look up Mavis Leno and gender apartheid in Afghanistan. People give in different ways - Bill Gates is another examle of a man who has much, but also gives - he is one of the most generous philanthopists in the world.

Want to know what's really wrong with this country? Step into my shop on any given day and you'll know. I'm 48 years old and I'm the youngest guy in there. Every good machinist around seems to be over the age of 55 or 60. I'm not quite sure where it turned. There was a time in this country when, if you were a skilled craftsman, if you were good with your hands, it was a sign of respect or talent or, in some cases, even genius. Just finding somebody who can properly degree a flywheel is a huge deal now. Along the way, America seems to have lost something important.
I saw an ad on TV last week for Aleve pain reliever. It said "? whether you work all day," and they show a woman doing housework, "or work real hard ?," and there's a guy in a suit holding a cellphone. And I think to myself: Is that what people think working hard is now, talking on a cellphone?
It's not to say that you can't make a living that way. But that's not really a marketable skill. It's just amazing to me. Computers are all very nice, but there were people using the same type of intuitive skills, men like Walter Owen Bentley or Fred Duesenberg, who could pick up a con rod or a piston and tell you exactly, to one-thousandth of an inch, how big a wrist pin should be. They could actually pick it up and go, "It should be this." They actually had that ability. I think there are still a lot of people who have those abilities, but we don't seem to nurture and revere them anymore. They don't seem to mean anything.
I meet a lot of hot rodders, guys in their 60s or even 70s, who once were juvenile delinquents. At some point in their lives, someone told them, "You know, you have a talent. You have a remarkable skill here. These cars that you soup up, you could turn that into something." And so they ran camshaft businesses, and did intake manifolds. Now many of them are famous. But until somebody told them they had this skill, they didn't realize they had it.
I grew up in a little town, Andover, Mass., and I was always cutting up in class. I had a teacher named Mrs. Hawkes who said, "Why don't you take my creative writing class? I always see you telling these stories in the hallway, and people are laughing. Why don't you write some of these stories down?" So I did. And for me, it was the first time I ever enjoyed doing homework. I even remember not looking at the clock when I was doing it.
It's the same thing today. I meet a lot of kids, especially in L.A. They come up and ask about cars, and have no idea where to go, or who to talk to, or how to get information, other than some big illustrated picture book of cars. Back in Boston, years ago, they had all these schools like Don Bosco Technical High School. Sure, there were kids there who were delinquents, who were put there. But there were also kids who came out and made good livings, not necessarily slide rule engineers but sort of shade tree engineers with the ability to make something out of nothing.
Those are the people I like, the people I like to hang around with. You like to be with people you learn from. I've got a couple of those guys here in my shop, guys who used to work at Lockheed. For some reason, America doesn't want their skills anymore, and I don't quite understand it. It just seems this is a skill worth nurturing and developing.

Exactly, Jay definetly gives money away and what's wrong with him buying something he enjoys? He worked hard for the money he earned, he's allowed to enjoy it on things that he dreamed of getting as a child (DON'T TELL ME YOU WOULDN'T) and of course he gives away to charity.

Only proof of this "F2" that I've found was a car that Dennis made with a Twin Turboed Lexus V10 (1600 hp), that was in no way connected to a concept of an "F2". Everything I've found on the net says that the rumor of a new McLaren is bunk.
