Yeah, since it is usually a result of something bad (his was acromegaly, I believe) and can make things grow too large that shouldn't like the heart.

RIP, just recently I watched a MST3K episode and he was in the movie being panned. Had no idea he was still alive. Not the best actor, but his character in the 007 film will never be forgotten(although I don't remember what Bond film that was).

I believe he was incapable of walking for many years now. If you watch him in Happy Gilmore, he's either leaning on a cane or post in full shots, and there is one medium shot where he is lunging forward. You don't see his legs, but he's on a track or cart, and being pushed forward.

I think he already had issues at the time of Moonraker.

Yeah, he definitely wasn't a great actor, but he always seemed likable (even as a villain) and entertaining. I enjoyed him in all the films I've seen him in.

But it truly was! It was the only Bond film of that era with an actual plot

But, far more importantly, it was the only Bond film (until Casino Royale, actually), that treated Bond as a character, and not just a type.

It stands above the others because it actually escapes the standard Bond formula. I like a lot of the others, of course, especially the Connery flicks (except for those 2 embarrassments that were released after OHMSS), but they are just character types.

Goldfinger is great, and certainly quintessential, but OHMSS is a better film all around, and without completely sacrificing the weirdness of Bond. Lazenby was unfortunate to have stepped in when he did, and be the guy in the way of Connery that suddenly wanted to return to the roll. It's the only reason he was replaced. He was certainly better than that creepy pedo Roger Moore!
