Java + Vista Ultimate x64 + firefox = broken

Cogman

Ok, every website I read about this seems to tell me the same thing, this SHOULD work. Indead, Internet explorer does work with java. However, for some reason I can't explain, when I install java for firefox, Nothing, The installation process seems to run ok, firefox reports it has the correct plugins, but It wont start the JRE whenever I visit any page with java on it.

I have tried the solutions listed on the java page with no avail. What could I be doing wrong? And suggestions?

Well, after further digging I finally fixed it. The java installer is retarded, it doesn't copy all the required files into the firefox plugin folder. To fix this, copy all files beginning with np in the java/yourjavaversion/bin folder into the firefox/plugin folder. That will fix it.

I bet if you'd of created a JAVA_HOME environment variable and then added that variable to your system path, it would have worked without copying anything ... it's just a guess as i've got vista64Ult and java + firefox works just fine for me
