Java Virtual Machine

Nocturnal

Lifer
Where the hell can I download it? I downloaded SP1 but it still says I need to download the virtual machine!!!!!!

I had this trouble earlier too, I hated the sun one. It slowed everything down and my samurize flickered, weird huh? I got a link to the one that microsoft stopped making (lawsuit) and it works perfectly...

Linky

The links of places to dl work sporadically, so go through the list, one is bound to work, if not try again later. Read through the directions too, if your problem was like mine (IE 6.0, not upgrade to 6.0) Microsoft excluded JVM but now has some security patch for it or something, so get the patch.

Have you actually RUN sun's version?

OK...I am not going to say ANYTHING more about this. I DON"T use Winblows...therefore I don't have to use some MS Packaged version of Sun's JVM...to interperet Java code , a language that was created by SUN.

The only reason your MS version runs better is becuz it is running on an MS Operating System. Probably geared by MS to only work properly with their own stuff.

But to answer your question....I am using Sun's JVM right now and it works beautifully.

Sun's JVM unfortunately suffers from slow load times.

Otherwise, it far exceeds the obsolete MS VM (roughly 5 years old) in too many ways to mention.

What does it matter who first made it? Its all about improvements and overall utility. Sun's messed up lots of the graphics, ran slow, and had some other weird effects. Holy crap, I'm backing Mircosoft up... 😕

Have you actually tried to develop for MS's?

It is a POS.

It is easier to bring the old MRJ 2.2.5 from apple up to date than it is to get the MS jvm to work with a modern java app.

Kilsrat,

I can assure you anyone who calls the runtime that hosts the vast majority of enterprise application servers a POS is not a software developer.

I could not care less what VM anybody chooses to use on their own PC. It's hilarious though that people are willing to put up with the distribution hassles MS imposes on them (after insisting the browser is the OS); and then will gladly download obsolete, unsupported software from an untrusted 3rd party since it can't be obtained directly.

Exactly. <3<3<3

It's still saying that the Java VM can't be found and I need to dl it. Is there anything I need to turn on in the IE options?

suns is better, but there are a few irritating bugs in it. At work I use suns 1.4.1 (latest version) but at home I use IBMs java vm ... it's the only one that works well with TONTO.

I have an older version of quickbooks that won't work with Suns JVM. 🙁 it only responds to MS JVM. what is a fella to do?
