Java Runtime Environment

My Computer informs me that the available memory is low.

I noticed in the list of programs on my Computer that I have 7 Updates listed for Java Runtime. The first is listed as: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Later updates are: Java (TM) 6 Update 2; Java (TM) 10 Update 5; etc.
Each one of these updates adds from 111 to 120 MB to my computer.

The first one was added in 2002 and states that it is (used rarely). There is another update that keeps asking me to update. I have been checking the option, "later" as I know it will add another 120 MB to my computer.

My question is: Can I delete any of these updates to allow for more space in my Computer's Memory?

Remove all of them, then go to www.java.com for the latest one.

Although, if your computer is saying your memory is too low, its probably not referring to Hard Drive space, but your RAM.

Try closing/removing things from your startup directory.

Not the right forum, but I'll answer.

1. Yes, you can remove all but the latest Java runtime environment. Prior to Java version 6 Update 10, every time Java updated it would install side by side with the previous version. Now when Java updates it will overwrite the previous version, so you won't have multiple versions installed simultaneously.

2. If your available memory is low, uninstalling programs probably won't help. You need to either add RAM to your system, run fewer programs simultaneously or remove some of the programs that start automatically when Windows boots.
