Java error

My friend can't get into any chat rooms, ever since he updated to netscape 6.1 when he does he gets this message
"this error occurs when your Java software has been either misinstalled on your browser or if Java software has been corrupted in some way. Some of the symptoms include a large number of "exception errors", applets not showing up (or showing up as a blank or gray frame), and other crash problems"

He also gets this in the java console
"Error: framesArroy(Frame).document has no properties"

What does he need to do to solve the problem, I'm lost, I don't know jack about JAVa

this has nothing to do with java in a sense, it has to do with the installation of a component in netscape itself, first tell him if he can uninstall 6.1 and do a resinstall, more than likely he just has a corrupted install, if he cant, mabey there is a patch over at netscape.com which might help him. honestly if he likes netscape tell him to try out opera from opera.com
