First there was the james byrd jr murder, chief of police was recently fired (which was called an act of racism) and now a couple of cops were fired for what happened to a black lady.

The cops are accused of slamming the ladies head into the counter. All I see is a lady resisting the instructions of the police officers.

A southeast Texas town with a history of racial unrest on Monday fired two white police officers recently captured on video slamming a black woman’s head into a countertop and wrestling her to the ground.

If any of you are planning on coming to Jasper to protest, let me know and we will have lunch.

No audio on the video but you are SURE she was "resisting the instructions" of the police officers.

Why would anyone want to come to Jasper?

She's a black woman. Of course that's what happened. You of all people should know this. :sneaky:

they were fired, so someone obviously felt they were out of line, from the video it appears excessive.

We have some big fishing tournaments with lots of prizes.

Lake sam rayburn has some nice parks and good places to go fishing.

During the james byrd jr stuff the black panthers and various white power groups came to town.

I would have to say at the very least that one cop was letting his temper get out of control. He needs a different line of work.

Wow, terrible for that woman.

Granted she clearly had an attitude, but that amount of force was completely uncalled for. And that first cop that hung up the phone on her has a major attitude problem, he should not be allowed to carry a gun.

Fire them both, put a black mark on their record so they can never "serve and protect" again.

According to the article, she was on the phone with someone so that she could get money to make the bail. Thats when the cop appartenly got an attitude and took her phone and hung it up.

For whatever reason, they tried to arrest her and this is what happened.

Allegedly, of course.

That was excessive, but she was arguing with them. But the cops lost control and the way they treated her was way over the line. But all that for a lousy $100 fine? Now the town will pay several grand for that. Talk about a bad economic decision by those cops.

That was excessive, but she was arguing with them..which is understandable because she was trying to get the money so she didn't have to be locked up and he told her to put down the phone. But the cops lost control and the way they treated her was way over the line. But all that for a lousy $100 fine? Now the town will pay several grand for that. Talk about a bad economic decision by those cops.

She looked like she was getting smart with them...yes, but she never got aggressive. Actually after her and the first cop exchanged a few "fuck yous", she was clearly standing still and made no aggressive movements whatsoever.

All of a sudden she comes back into clear view of the camera because a second cop grabs her from behind by her hair and slams her into a counter. Her holding on to the counter is understandable. If that was happening to me, I'd probably try to hold myself up too to keep those assholes from abusing me like that.

Pretty sure a cop cant do you like that because you had a smart mouth.

No wonder these cops want to ban civilians from filming them. If not for that camera, the world would never know...

Those cops are comically bad at their job. And yes, it does look like she has a valid 1983 case against the city and those two officers for the actions of the officers. She'll easily get a low six figure settlement of which will all be hers because the city will have to pay her attorney fees separately.
