Dude...Nemo sushi is extraordinarily easy to make...

wrong..just wrong.

but that was the picture i was thinking of when i typed that out hehe.

Typical American schoolkid lunch: PB&J sandwich hastily wrapped in tinfoil and some potato chips in a sandwich bag.

That shows loving how, exactly? Not saying that is what you give your kids, merely stating what I know through my experiences/what I've seen.

There are schools where children are still allowed to bring peanut butter? I am surprised by this...

did your mommy abandon you? you sure do have a lot of anger and passion about home made lunches for school.

Actually, typical American schoolkid lunch: square pizza, carrot/pea combo, diced peaches and milk. Don't know many kids nowadays that bring lunch.

we do everyday. the food at the school jr and high school is so nasty my kids refuse to eat it. so its sack lunch 100% every day of the school year.

It seems that those kids' Mothers just care more for their kids than the average American Mom does. A thoughtful lunch, packed with love, takes time and energy to make. Two things most lazy American mothers don't have or won't ensure they have.

That said, I am really sick of all that Anime crap. Why does EVERYTHING in Japan have to be some talking animal with huge, googly eyes, or a robot with death-blaster hands?

It's not, did you see the Obama, Indy and Michael Jackson ones?

But yeah, an American mom is going to be busy trying to get her two cigarettes in, updating her facebook/emails and tell the kid "YOU ARE GETTING A FUCKING HAM SANDWICH NOT A LUNCHABLE TODAY!"

Anyhoo...my wife doesn't do characters, but the presentation of all our meals and especially my packed lunches when I bring one to the office are done very well.

She was born and raised in Japan for the first nearly 40 years of her life until we met on a jobsite.

some look really cool, but I really don't care how cool they look. If I was a kid and my mom made me a Dukes Of Hazard lunch like this I would be pissed. Fuck rice, fish & Seaweed. I'd rather have had a boring looking pizza lunchable than this.

Lunchables were awesome. But as an adult, I'd rather have sushi. Especially the smoked salmon and cream cheese. Not traditional but it's fantastic.

I used to always get sandwiches when I was a kid. If I was lucky I got pasta or soup. That was until my mom ran out of food. I still don't like PB&J to this day because of that. Got those A LOT. Except you can't give your kinds that anymore because it may, potentially, kill a classmate and trigger a lawsuit. 🙄

Worst thing I would get were cheese sandwiches. Butter, a slice of American cheese, on wheat bread. Yuk. You can't even trade em.

I know. how selfish of me for not flying to Japan to take the class on how to make sushi in the shape of nemo.

sniff. i wonder if my kids will ever forgive me? 🙁

no. in fact that's a rare thing. Some schools are restricting what you can bring though.
holy hell, why are you so butthurt? it's just different cultures doing different things. it's a nice gesture, and i'm sure it makes their children smile. sorta like when you buy your kid a cool backpack or something.

if you're one of the few parents who actually makes sure their children are eating healthy food, good job. problem is, most don't.

Bento boxes aren't always 'sushi'...pretty much fish isn't too common because it can spoil. Fish cake is.

Rice is their 'bread', a rice ball = sandwich. They use a lot of seaweed, but sausage, egg and other salted type meats are common.

Down here in Florida, Peanut Butter was one of the few 'good' things you could pack without worry of getting sick from spoiled food. Now most schools banned them so the school lunch or a preserved-filled manufactured lunch is the only real options.

I think you are confused. I don't care about other cultures doing something different. Good for them.

I do think him claiming that doing that means they love there children more. Do you understand that?

But what? A child?

Why the fuck would you want to buy one!? i guess if you can get it past the disgusting diaper stage.

we had that issue when we lived in New Mexico. i remember lunch's being disgusted by lunch time.

my kids lunch box's are insulated and you can put in those ice packs. it keeps them nice and fresh. I have no problem packing fresh fruit (cut up in a snack cup) for them. It will be good by lunchtime. Also a thermos stays warm too (my daughter loves soup).

America #1 in childhood obesity, Japan is probably last as far as developed countries go. So I don't think anyone can criticize Japanese lunches.

yep and that pizza? not real cheese. those veggies and fruits? highly genetically modified laced with preservatives. milk? its milk, hard to digest and a redundant form of calcium plus fat.

im not kidding. i went to jail when i was 19 and the first thing i thought when lunch was served was "hmm... very familiar". i didnt eat much in jail just like being back in grade school where i usually went hungry until i got home.

Sounds like you needed to get some school lunches. Going hungry must have made you stupider.

Neat. Japan is really interesting when it comes to this stuff. Here the big thing is time. We are always in a hurry. It seems overthere they can afford to take the time to do stuff like this.

No wonder the Japanese are going extinct, it's too much damn effort to just feed a little kid over there. I'd stick to my tentacle porn too if I were them.
