Japan's amazing lunchboxes.

It seems that those kids' Mothers just care more for their kids than the average American Mom does. A thoughtful lunch, packed with love, takes time and energy to make. Two things most lazy American mothers don't have or won't ensure they have.

That said, I am really sick of all that Anime crap. Why does EVERYTHING in Japan have to be some talking animal with huge, googly eyes, or a robot with death-blaster hands?

If my kid was getting raped by tentacle monsters as often as those Japanese kids are, I would pack them an extra special lunch too.

When I lived in Japan, there was much, much more emphasis on food presentation than I've experienced in the US.

Not all of it was as extreme as the examples presented in the linked video. For example, in the hotel across the street from my apartment, the fried rice always was shaped in a mold before serving.

A different example was a small place I used to stop at along the South China Sea always served french fries in a small wooden box...

It always seemed like a pleasant way to approach things...

that is fucking stupid.

it does not show they care more about the kids.

I pack lunches for my kids often. they get a healthy and good lunch. the fact i don't draw faces on the bread does not say i love my children any less then the parents in Japan.

Typical American schoolkid lunch: PB&J sandwich hastily wrapped in tinfoil and some potato chips in a sandwich bag.

That shows loving how, exactly? Not saying that is what you give your kids, merely stating what I know through my experiences/what I've seen.

I don't give that. they need a full meal.

but anyway

saying that someone who does something insane like these mothers do means they love them more? fuck again thats idiotic. You can't prove or disprove that a parent loves or does not love them by a packed lunch.

why do you hate your kids so much???

some look really cool, but I really don't care how cool they look. If I was a kid and my mom made me a Dukes Of Hazard lunch like this I would be pissed. Fuck rice, fish & Seaweed. I'd rather have had a boring looking pizza lunchable than this.

My daughter and only one other kid in her class are the only ones that get nice packed lunches and she is ecstatic when she takes them. I remember when kids were ecstatic when they got to buy their lunch at school. What a change.

Shit, man, if you aren't having a celebrity chef come out and make a lunch on-site from all organic ingredients from scratch, you ain't lovin' your kid enough.

edit: scratch that. you have to be there personally to participate.

This is on par with those children beauty pagents, it's the moms competing amongst themselves through their children's lunches.

My mom DIDN'T pack my lunch, ever. Had to make my own sandwich starting the first day of kindergarten. In a brown bag, which I was expected to bring back home if I could.

In retrospect I actually think my mom loved me far more than kids who had cool lunch boxes or hand made crap from their moms.
