Yeah, if McCain had been elected and was the current sitting president but everything else had happened exactly the same, you can bet the Republicans would still be blaming the economic downturn on Clinton.
In reality the president doesn't have nearly as much to do with the economy as everyone seems to think. And it's not all one president or another. But try telling that to someone who is firmly entrenched with one party or another.
