Japanese Hip Hop

the first J-spec hiphop album I heard was in 1997, the group is called Buddha Brand or something like that. very hardcore, and sounded pretty good too

I'm disappointed. I was expected the boom clap to go the entire time and I was gonna laugh my ass off.

Agreed! J-rap is great!

BTW this is one of my favorite songs period. Ryohei Yamamoto is sooo great and then combined with hip hop... doesn't get any better.

My favorite recent m-flo is Picture Perfect with Monkey Majik. Looks like it's long gone from Youtube though 🙁

Been a fan of DJ Krush for years, been able to track down a number of his side projects & related releases (i.e. Ryu's "Ga"), but good, underground Japanese hip hop is a b!tch to find in the States.

It's just as bad as american rap, except I have a better excuse for not understanding the lyrics.

Go to this link...

Pick out track 11 and click the speaker icon. It will open up an m3u file, which features a Japanese rapper named Arata. He starts at 2:11, this is the only free file I could find of him. He's part of the Living Legends crew. He's been on Mystik Journeymen albums as well as Living Legends.

I looked around for more of his stuff but I can't find any. I have some more tracks on disc but have no server to have people listen to.

there are so many great japanese hip hop Djs.. Also, mike shinoba (Linkin Park, Fort Minor) is a japanese fellow too..

Hip hop isn't and has never been limited to one race.

good times, I had a DJ friend and we would lit it up and watch those DMC tapes over and over again. I enjoyed messing around with his turntables too...
