My girlfriend is in Japan on a class trip and she told me her teacher told her that talking on their cell phone in public (while walking?) is frowned upon, and they are not allowed to do it. Is this a load of BS that she is being fed to dissuade her from talking on the phone during the day?

She said she saw one person on the phone, but after thinking about it I've decided i'm not going to worry too much about it, since when they're in public doing their thing I'm sleeping and don't want to be bothered anyway!

From what I've heard, it's bad etiquette for foreign women to wear pants; only short, school-girl type skirts are acceptable. And she must wear white panties. And bend over a lot. I hear that makes the Japanese men very happy.

Aren't the Japanese the most tech-crazy, cellphone-toting, thumb-textingest people on the face of the earth? 😕 I've never been to Japan but I'd imagine that you're issued a cell phone when you're 4 years old and it's forever glued to your hand after that...
