That's because the US has the advantage of having a spaceship kept at Roswell that they're reverse-engineering.

Yep. I haven't seen a Japanese car ever beat an American muscle car on the drags anywhere. But then again these are really souped up muscle cars. (500> CID)

There was a good article in Forbes (maybe it was money magazine) about how their cultural values are the cause of their economic troubles. They won't let bad companies die, so by supporting these badly managed companies they continue to stagnate their own economy. So for all their intelligence, they continue to hurt themselves in the long run.

We do the same thing, but with people.

The Japanese love Americans. Try visiting Japan and see how curious and friendly Japanese are to Americans. There is a sense that Americans are lazy and too fat, but generally I would say that is as far as it goes.

Almost like the U.S. with its airline companies.

I don't know if they look down on us, but I bet they hate us. We beat them into the dirt in WW2. I bet if we gave them the chance they would nuke our whole country. They make some damn good cars, though.

They do'nt hate Americans... their entire generation is about emulating Americans. You're entire post was ignorant.

I sincerely apologize, Mr. Condescending. Notice, I said "I bet...". I know how I would feel about a country that beat us in a war. Not that I am a huge fan of the administration, but, we were the pioneers of freedom.

I wonder why "their entire generation" wishes to be like us?

Well, they have a lot of loyalty... which was one of the reasons why they were so successful during the 80s. I remember reading a dozen or so business books of the 80s, and so many of them were trying to emulate the Japanese companies. Their theory was, if an employer is 100% loyal to their employees, and can guarantee them a job for life, that the employees would be happier and work harder in the company... for it to succeed. And this worked great in the 80s, but you're right... now that the market is bad for them, they're REALLY hurting because they're unwilling to adapt and downsize some of those companies.
