Concerning the literacy rating, I think that all depend on how you look at it. There is some pretty basic literacy that everyone in the country can do, but they you have to deal with all the Kanji. I`ve been attending college here for the last year, and for the most part, every time one of my friends has to go through a text book for class, or at times, a newspaper, they need a dictionary because they can`t get all the kanji. They wouldn`t be able to understand a good deal of the reading without the dictionary. At least this is what they tell me. Ignore my spelling errors, I`m just too tired and lazy to fix anything.

ironic how the old war-goers/expansionists are now peaceful (japan, germany, china) are now less aggressive, whereas the historically peace-preservers have recently gone all out (usa, UK)
