My class is watching a video on Japan and I'm just amazed at how advanced they are. Supposedly 99% are literate whereas the US is 96% and China 75%. They're also considered, according to the video, "the most intelligent people in the world". That made me frown.

What do the Japanese think of Americans? I've heard they look down on most of the world which kind of pisses me off.
 
Heh, If I remember correctly someone said they don't teach their students the true facts behind WWII. Somehow they make themselves out to be the victims in the whole thing. I can't remember the details, so I could be wrong.

Japan is an advanced place technologically, but we have the distinct advantage in size. Both is square miles and in physical body size. I thinkt the average Japanese man is like 5' 1" where as the average US man is like 5'7". Let's just say their height isn't the only thing smaller... 😀

Try to take a joyride in Japan on the roads, you can't go very far without hitting a coast. 🙂

EDIT: Also, if I remember correctly Japan has to import like 95% of all lumber used because they have very little trees.
 
I don't know if they look down on us, but I bet they hate us. We beat them into the dirt in WW2. I bet if we gave them the chance they would nuke our whole country. They make some damn good cars, though.

Current generation maybe, but there is an ingrained feeling of Japanese superiority in their culture. Of course you could say that about any culture.

japan doesnt have overt racism, they have the highest life expectancy, high GDP per capita despite the economy, lowest crime rate, so they feel their way of life is a little better than most of the world

just like the way america feels about mexico, or lets say france

Oh, no doubt. Most of the older generation despise the younger generation for how Americanized they're becoming... but even most of the older generations, realize their role in the war, and that postwar, the Americans treated them respectfully. There are some hatred i'm sure, but that's expected from any population really... but they certainly don't have the same hatred as say the Muslims.
 
they are very good at refining things, but they dont acutally invent a whole lot.
video games and cars are just just some of the examples.
