Sarcasm aside, there are a lot of politicians the in US who keep saying that mass killings will magically stop once they have outlawed and confiscated firearms. Mass killings like this in gun unfriendly countries like Japan should help to show otherwise.

I've wondered why some politicians are SO adamant that we disarm lawful gun owners.

In CA, politicians actually reduced stealing guns down to a misdemeanor and released thousands of prisoners early. Gov. Brown paroled 2,300 lifers who were convicted of murder. Yet at the same time, they are punishing lawful owners, making it harder and harder for people to defend themselves. You are supposed to depend on others to protect you now.

I think it is because they want to create sheeple who are dependent on government and who will continue to vote them into office. They want these mass killings, because they can justify more laws and more funding for themselves and promote themselves. Professional politicians are dangerous, self-serving parasites.

It seems more likely that they are doing it because it's hilarious. Disarm the population, release a bunch of criminals, light a cigar while watching the madness unfold on TV.

I love how all the liberals always act so condescending and morally superior whenever the hypocrisy of their reasoning is exposed.

I'm not a liberal and I haven't politicized this event or any other event.

Ex employee apparently. He wanted "to make all disabled people disappear" or suchlike.

These sorts of attacks aren't unknown in Japan. This is on the anniversary of a school mass stabbing where 8 little kids died.

Since he previously worked there. That would give him a boost of confidence, huge knowledge of how to get in, move around the building and what weaknesses in their security arrangements exist.
He may have kept keys and/or made copies of them. While working there he may have built up huge grudges against the bosses, fellow workers and patients there.
Apparently he was locked up for about 2 weeks somewhat recently, because he told people he wanted to do this (kill the disabled).

Local police have said he sent a handwritten letter to politicians in February in which he threatened to kill hundreds of disabled people. He was kept in hospital for almost two weeks before being released.

Sadly even in a very nice and well off, low crime rate, society who handle mentally ill people reasonably well (I presume). Japan still has horrible stuff like this still happens, but fortunately very rarely.

The only criticism of Japan that comes to mind, is that I think they have much more violent and sexual stuff on their TV and other sources. But they may be cracking down on it. I tried to find a source, but only found misc bits and pieces, here and there.

If they cant, then they will mitigate, maybe dismiss it as an anomaly, or as inconsequential.

NHK World TV of Japan just ran a story about this. The suspect should have been stopped long ago. He wrote letters and told several people about his plan before carried out his horrible deed.
