It does get quite cold in Japan in the winter though. Japan's right up there with NY, think of how gross it gets in the winter in NY.
 
I saw a show about this a while ago. It looks a lot better up close in the actual waves, but yes it is still not the real ocean. Neverless a pretty cool place that I would like to visit.

ALSO, The reason why its right next to the real beach and no one is using the real beach is because its so polluted you cannot go in it without getting sick, I saw the show on this a while ago but I am pretty sure that is why they built it (besides a tourist attraction). The author of that article does not have all the facts.

It does get quite cold in Japan in the winter though. Japan's right up there with NY, think of how gross it gets in the winter in NY.

I live in MA. With the windchill, it was close to 0 the other day. I don't see us building an indoor beach 🙂

Concept would be incredibly neat for landlocked places but there? Seems to me like a waste of money and resources.

there was an indoor skiing place just like that proposed in Anaheim a few years back. They said it'll be ready around 2002 or 3 or so, but I guess it never even materialized.
