thinking about spending 10 to 14 days later this summer in japan and south korea. tell me what to do/see atot!

(would like to keep it cheap)

You may want to read up on the history between those two countries. They have shared quite a bit...

Its been a few decades since I lived in Japan (Okinawa). And I have never visited Korea.

But I think that visiting both would be great fun. For planning purposes, I would probably advocate a historical/future type of approach. Japan has a long history I would consider climbing Mt. Fuji visiting some museums, some Shinto Temples, staying at a country Inn, as well as touring some of the electronic retailing areas. And I definitely would try to experience the food...

Is it Korea that has the most Internet Bandwidth available per capita in the world? I'd like to see what they are doing with all that bandwidth. Again, I'd be interested in some of the Historical attractions as well as the food...

Best of luck,
Uno

Not sure what month you're going, but plane ticket prices are probably not going to be cheap if it's only a couple of months away..

What is there to do in S. Korea? Seriously. I was there on assignment for a couple of days and never left where I was.

Seoul - Namsan Tower for a birds eye view of the city, Insadong/Gwanghwamun district for traditional stuff (palaces, souvenirs), Myeongdong or Samseong/COEX for more modern shopping/sights. Jonggak and Daehangno (college scene) are worth checking out also.

I've only been to Japan once (Osaka/Nara/Kyoto). I'd highly recommend Kyoto, one of the cleanest and most beautiful cities I've visited.

I would take advantage of the bullet train pass available only to foreigners...

And.. Order soup in south Korea and say it tastes like miso soup.
