You like that? How far would you take that logic? At some point, if a war is wrong, you have to fight against it no matter who is on the other side.

Huge difference between opposing a war and vilifying(sp?) the leaders to run the war and berating soldiers who were most likely drafted into the war by calling them liars and hypocrits in front of their enemy.

She is a pig for doing something like that.
Yep but many did worse and were forgiven. How come none of you Red Asses are all in a tit over Tom Hayden?

Cause he was smart enough to divorce Jane...surely after he gave her some good rogerings though.
Now that's the type of comment most of us would expect from the likes of you. You need to grow up and stop being such a hateful little ah heck just for the sake of being perpetually pissed off.
So sorry for not toeing the lefty/liberal party line. I completely forgot that any criticism of the left is "hateful' whereas any similar criticism of the right in here is considered clever. My baaahhhhhdddd.
I'm sorry if you think you are toeing the Right/Conservative line with your moronic response. Think of the most idotic posters here for the left. Well you are the Right's Counterpart.

Sorry, but I don't belong to the right either as an agnostic, pro-gay, and pro-choice person. The only party line I toe is the TLC party line, bubba.

But the liberals will still whine.

Re: the horrendous behavior of certain posters: The problem is that the moderation policy as it stands tolerates garbage. It's sad since this place could be a great forum.

Re: the topic, what many people seem to ignore is the fact that one of the primary architects of the Vietnam War (McNamara) is on record saying
the war was wrong, that the politicians of the time grossly miscalculated the costs. It's easier, apparently, the vilify people like Kerry who said it at the time.

They learned well from their Conservative Counterparts during the 90's.
So you admit their behaviour is sour grapes over Clinton?

Thanks. That's my impression too.
No, it has more to do with being out of power.

I'm a Moderate Democrat and I think she's a despicable traitor POS who's execution is long overdue. I'm not kidding.

If garbage weren't tolerated in here, there'd be no participants in P&N at all.

Has anyone here ever read the Snopes article?

I like its final paragraph:
Whether the war was right or wrong, those who risked (and gave) their lives fighting it deserve respect, and for Fonda to brand men who were held captive and tortured as "liars" and "hypocrites" (despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary) in order to defend her political views was and is unpardonable.

But not against the men who fought in the war, many of whom were fsckin' drafted. Take your protests to the leaders who make the decisions, not the poor soldiers who do and die as they are told.

she said she still would have visited the AA installation, but that she wouldn't have ratted out the soldiers. i'm sure part of it is her feeling the burn on her career, traitor

Treason. Although charges were never brought against her, the interpretation of "giving aid and comfort to the enemy" could have easily been used in a case against her.

I say forgive for this one reason: Compare her in the 70's to today. If you notice(hopefully everybody), she was hella of a fine girl back in her day but seeing her today, she simply warped every where in her body. I can barely look at her anymore since she is not attractive any more. That is deep punishment because transforming from a hot girl to a zombie, she has to live with that for the rest of her live.

What she did was stupid and wrong which she herself acknowledges. I don't have the time, energy or the inclination to hate her over it. I think it best she be ignored.

She doesn't believe that most of what she did was wrong. The only thing she said was wrong is that she shouldn't have sat on that anti air artillery piece. She thinks the radio broadcasts, telling the airmen they should stop bombing were fine, she thinks that protesting in North Vietnam was fine, she thinks her interviewing american pows for the north vietnamese to give the impression that the pows were treated fairly was fine.

I saw the 60 minutes interview and seems deluded. She said that the reason she went was because Nixon had been in office for 8 years and that he hadn't stopped the war despite the claims that he would. The problem with her statement is that nixon was elected in Nov. '68 took office in Jan '69 and she went to Vietnam in '72, 3 years after Nixon took office and, of course, Nixon didn't serve 8 years. Maybe her memory is fading.

She lives in denial.

She went to NV as a celebrity and acted as an implied rep of the US.
Providing the impression that the POWs were being treated properly was based on rose colored glasses. She had to have known that and chose to ignore it because of her views.

She does not deserve forgiveness. Kissing up to the enemy for political/publicity gain is not acceptable.

To classify her as a traitor is difficult based on the definition.

I wonder what she has to say about turning over the note to the North Vietnamese jailers she was passed by the the American POWs that said that they were being tortured? Many were tortured more over that little stunt.

That pretty well sums up my feelings.

Calling her a "Liberal Bitch" is retarded though. Seek help man.

I take it your subscription to the whiner's club has been renewed for the year?

You come into a Jane Fonda thread whining about Kerry and his past and I'm whining? Another Passions in the making I see...
