Hey people,

I recently purchased a set of Jamo E350's (2x100W RMS, 8 Ohms) which I coupled with an old Sansui A60 (2x45W RMS under 8 Ohms). Thing is I need to adjust the volume balance like a quarter towards one of the channels to get even volume output on each of them. I haven't tried to use another amp or another cable yet to see where the problem really comes from but I think it's got to be an issue with one of the channels of the amp.

Now if you know the Jamo E350's, you know they originally come from a 5.1 system, have a tweeter and 2 mid-bass speakers so naturally this limits the upper mid frequencies a bit. Not that it's really a problem for me as I mostly listen to drum and bass, jungle, dub, lounge etc., but if I wanted to correct this in the future with say a center speaker and a woofer i'd need a 5.1 receiver.

So my question is, is it worth switching my old receiver for a new one within the 150-200$ price range (or a used one for that matter) ? Will this give me a better listening experience with my speakers ? Is it so bad that my Sansui A60's output doesn't match my speakers' 2x100W (though AFAIK older receivers are generally more powerful and most of the new models fall far short of their official output, and the E350's output (rendition?) is 92dB so general output is sufficient for me) ?

Thanks for any replies.

So the balance adjustment on the Sansui has the volume difference sorted out to your satisfaction? Is that the only issue with it?

If it's working right now, I wouldn't bother changing out the receiver until something goes wrong with it or until you're actually ready to move up to more than a 2.0 system.

45 watts from the sansui and 100 watts power handling on the speakers isn't a problem.

You'd probably gain a better listening experience spending that $150-$200 on a basic subwoofer than replacing the receiver. If you got a subwoofer with speaker wire inputs, you could keep using your A60 still. I would imagine that with drum and bass, a subwoofer would be a good addition to the system.

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, the volume is even when adjusted with the volume balance. About the subwoofer, can you recommend something around $100-$150? Thanks

Oh hmmm...

Well I highly doubt you'll find that one since I think dayton is partsexpress's house brand.
