So a few months ago, I picked up High Times (greatest hits) and instantly fell in love with this band.

Since then, I've picked up all six studio albums and I am just blown away by the different layers of instrumentation and range of emotions in Jamiroquai's music. This is one of the few artists that really has songs I can listen to no matter what my mood - excited (Cosmic Girl, Alright, Dynamite, Stop Don't Panic), aroused (Everyday, Blow Your Mind), funky (Light Years, Scam) relaxed (Corner of the Earth, Picture of my Life).

Is anybody else here a big fan? Are there similar artists I should check out?

I don't know of any specific artists, but have you tried putting Jamiroquai into Pandora and seeing what songs it plays for you?

Just a thought.

I utterly abhor Jamiroquai.
Maroon 5 put me in mind of them (and of course, I despise them as well)

What's wrong with a little Parliament?

Blasphemy! :| How dare you speak of Jamiroquai and Maroon 5 in the same breath! (I am not a Maroon 5 fan.)

I will check out Parliament, thanks.

When putting in Jamiroquai into Pandora I got a bunch of (IMO) very drab techno. What about Scissor Sisters? They are funky. :p

More disco than funk, I believe, but of course disco borrowed from funk.

A little disco here and there never hurt anybody. Like arsenic!

Well, maybe that's a bad example.

I don't think the disco is really my thing.

I just remembered that allmusic.com shows related artists, and it looks like Portishead and Massive Attack are worthy to check out.

If you're thinking of "Virtual Insanity", IMO that's one of his worst singles.

Check out Alright, Cosmic Girl, and Canned Heat, for starters. Much better singles.

Portishead is nothing like Jamiroquai but you might like them. They are much more melancholy.

Definitely. I wouldn't have thought to associate them with Jamiroquai, though.

Perhaps because they are all English?

Seven Days in Sunny June is one of my favourites.

Yes. I love Portishead, particularly their second album, it's freaking brilliant.

I suppose, seems a silly reason to call them "related" though :p
