Damn good stuff. I drank a whole hell of a lot of it in Ireland earlier this month!

I wouldn't consider it the best though.

mmmmm.....Smithwicks....

I've only found two places so far in the U.S. that carry it on tap. An Irish pub in Tempe, AZ and the Hilton off of Michigan avenue in Chicago.

Pyonir said he found it being sold in 6 pack bottles at some stores in AZ a while back.

My wife and I lived off that stuff when we were in Ireland. :)

Yeah. The only place I've had Smithwicks was a seafood restaurant in DC.

I'm surprised Bennigan's doesn't carry it. They sell everything else including Guinness, Bass, Harp and they used to sell Murphy's (does Heineken still make Murphy's?) so why not sell Smithwicks?

You're more likely to find it under the name Kilkenny, which is the export name (I first had it in France with that name -- when I visited Ireland, I couldn't find it until I noticed that Smithwick's had the same logo!). In the early-mid '90s, you couldn't find the stuff anywhere, but I've since located it several places (Atlanta, San Francisco, DC/NOVA). Love the stuff.

around here, Smithwicks isn't very hard to find... there are a handful of bars that have it on tap, and many liquor stores that carry it... excellent brew, almost as good as Bell's Oberon

You can find it at a lot of pubs here. Unfortunately, my usual place took it off their taps last year. :| Their brunch special used to be great, a meal & 2 pints of domestic or Smithwick's for $9.95. Now it's the meal and a half pint of Bud, Miller or Michelob Ultra for the same price.

I had Bell's Oberon when I visited Michigan last month.

Hated it.

I insisted that the bartender NOT put a twist of orange in it. I'm from Florida for God's sake! I didn't come to Michigan to have an orange put in my beer. The bartender didn't see the humor in that.

This bottle was $24.99 and it's only three nights old and it's gone.

I need to switch to moonshine or something. :(

Try switching to AA. :Q

Yeah. Ancient Age isnt exactly "good", but it is 80 proof bourbon for $9 per liter.

If you live close to Nevada, you can try taking a road trip there once every few months and loading up on booze. I don't think there are any or few taxes, so it is economical to by in bulk. I live in seattle and 3 or 4 times a year a guy from work will take a road trip to Reno and take orders, then pack his SUV until its completely full. You can usually get stuff or around half off, sometimes 3/4 of what you would pay in Washington.

CHEERS!

We have to pay the federal sin tax also in Nevada and I dont see the prices cheaper than any other major cities on the west coast. It sounds like your friend has a connection to a FB manager at a casino in Reno reselling the inventory.
