My local radio station, KMOX St Louis, is sponsering a "Distinguished Speaker" series. One of the guys they're bringing in is James Carville. Now what is so distinguished about this guy? What has he ever accomplished? Every time I have ever heard the guy talk about anything, speak on any subject, all I can think of is what a POS.

He's a Clinton croony right....what the hell else?

The Ragin' Cajun. ;) Actually, the funniest part about this guy is that he's married to a Republican. ;)

That's funny, every time i hear Carville speak, i don't think he reminds me of a POS, but rather the assistant coach from "The Waterboy" ;)

I'll admit, he's not pretty. One crossfire viewer has kids who call him the cricket man.

Agree or disagree with his views, he's a pretty good speaker. There are plenty of republicans who I disagree with who are fine speakers.

One who isn't is William Rehnquist. He gave a convocation when I was in college. Most of the audiance was asleep by 5 minutes in. On the other hand, James Earl Jones was one of the best speakers I've ever heard, stuttering and all.

Yes, that's how he got into acting. If he memorized his lines ahead of time, he wouldn't stutter.

Link

It wasn't bad, and if he hadn't mentioned it, I may never have noticed.

James Carville - "Distinguished Speaker"

HA, only thing I ever heard him do was extol the virtues of klinton.

It is funny that his wife's views are 180° from his.

BLuefront- Did you notice that all of the "Distingushed Speakers" were Democrats?

Edit note- Can't say that I know that Russert is a Democrat- just that he's given me that impression

Well I just read Carvill's bio.....like I said, what has he ever done? Campaign management....that's about it. Certainly doesn't give any credibility to anything he says. They want $45 to attend this little speech by Carville. Think I'll pass....

Well if you look at his bio and campaign victories, I'd say he is pretty damn distinguished. Name me one person who has the same success at what he does. I'm not saying I agree with his political stances (I don't know what his are), but I doubt the intelligence of anyone who challenges his enormous success.

Yeah, funny how some people are open-minded enough to look beyond simply party affilition when judging the character of another....

Whoops....wrong place for that observation. Carry on.

James Carville, distinguished speaker

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Depends on your definition of "distinguished", I guess. He's smart, funny and very savvy in a political sense. He is, obviously, very left-leaning so someone who leans the other way isn't going to enjoy anything he has to say, no matter how well put. Which pretty much sums up why this thread is utterly pointless since it was started by one who would rather gnaw his own hand off than have to listen to something he's already quite sure he doesn't agree with.
