James Bond- Q II isn't coming back in Casino Royale

"Judi Dench, who plays M, is the only familiar face returning from previous Bond movies"

So much for the guy that took over as Q. Too bad. He could have been set for life as Q, based on the fact the previous Q was there since the 1st Bond film in the 1960's.

Wonder what happened?

But if dench is M then Q should be around. I guess John Cleese did not want to be stereotyped into the Q roll.

Cheers,
Aquaman

This makes no sense. The female M had JUST taken over MI6 in Goldeneye, unless this happens after Goldeneye but before Q got replaced by, what, R? What about Moneypenny?

hell, brosnan is better than this new guy

I believe this movie is being set up as a re-start of Bond. This is when Bond first gets his 007 badge etc etc.

Subtitle:Bond Begins

Hopefully it is better than their other idea:Bond Returns

Brosnan was a great Bond in my opinion, and I'll hold my judgement on this new guy until I see the movie.

I agree on both statements. Brosnan was ideal for the role of Bond and I can't think of any other modern actor that would better play the role. It's not his fault that Bond became an action hero instead of a spy, but Brosnan does well as either of those roles.

Agreed, I would put Brosnan as a close thrid to Connery and Moore. I enjoyed most of the bond movies since Goldeneye.

On a side note: I will defend Halle Berry as a Bond girl as one of the most brilliant casting choices ever.

Brosnans Bond were was good if not great.

I blame the storylines more than anything. He did his part in the sandbox, except the sand wasn't smooth like Connery's

Every bond had his own little quirk, and the new guy will have the badass look, kinda like Jack Bauer maybe. Brosnan is different. He's witty, smart and a great flirt.

Connery is still the typical Bond. He had the perfect smirk, the awesome one liners, and is still the hottest guy I've ever seen.

You have no clue what you're talking about.

That guy you're speaking of is John Cleese, who is a very accomplished comedy actor, and most certainely does not need the "Q II" role in James Bond films to earn a living.

I'm of the opinion that whichever Bond you saw first will determine which actor you prefer as Bond.

This movie is supposed to be set when James Bond first gets his 00 status, hence, before any of the other movies. Only other way to do it is just as a restart to the whole series, and to just pretend like the other movies didn't happen, like they're doing with Batman. Either way works I suppose, there's no real way to do it without having to take some bit of license (M being a woman rather than a man in earlier movies).

Doesn't really matter because the movie will be incredibly awesome, due to a huge lack of CGI garbage and lots and lots of real-life stuntwork.

I saw the Connery and Moore films as a kid, but I still think Brosnan was the best Bond. He's the ultra-suave spy I picture Bond to be. Even back when I watched Remington Steele I thought he'd make a good Bond.

Brosnan was the best bond since Connery... he just had crappy scripts since Ian Flemming is gone no more quality bond books are out there...

wasn't his fault the stories and the scripts stunk..

Horrible pick for Bond...
No Brosnan.....
No "Q".....
Still has a woman as "M"....
This is going to be a crappy @$$ movie.
