apple approved an app that lets you control a torrent site - what does that say? we all assume torrent folks are pirates. though i'm not sure why you'd need to torrent anything for the ios devices since every app is small.
The real reason is there are very dangerous apps, backgrounder, multiflow, sbsettings,spirit2pwn, that can roach your ios - especially when you try to install ios 3 apps to ios 4 phones etc. there are not many checks in place.
However say you want to ichatr - free app - you can't buy that anywhere - it was free on the app store - you can't get it anywhere else but repo's other than the default ones - well is that a crime? it was free until apple pulled the plug on it - it still is free - as in not for sale anywhere - jailbreaking was made legal to let you run apps that are not approved by apple's somewhat insane approval process.
If you buy a gun it comes with a warning that you could kill someone - does that mean you will? use your judgement man. if there are 3 apps that are questionable - research them - if they do not meet your legal and moral judgements - do not install them - but i guarantee you not everything on those repo's are pirated. heck there's a ton of ringtones on the default repo's on cydia - are those legal? in all countries?
If the iphone dev team/saurik did not want you to add a repo - they would make it so.
