Jailbreaking my Iphone

I jailbroke my iphone yesterday and have a small problem... How do I get my carriers settings in? I have AT&T and I assumed that the settings would be there when I jailbroke it. Do I have to download something for Cydia? Ultrasn0w? or is ultrasn0w only for carriers other that ATT?

Also, will the newest carrier update be there? ie. MMS

Since you have a SIM that will activate your iPhone you have to make sure that "Activate my iPhone" is unchecked when you are making the ipsw file. I could not figure out this problem when I was trying to jailbreak my iPhone for the longest time.

Ultrasn0w is only for using carriers other than ATT.

Yes the newest carrier update will be there if you jailbreak your iphone to 3.1.2 or any of the versions that use it.

I am useing blackrain to jailbreak it. Making an .ipsw file is not in the process, blackrain is the only jailbreak program I could get to work. I tried using redsn0w but when I select the .ipsw file that I downloaded from the internet it tells me it does not recognize it.

For carrier settings (ie. tethering), I used http://help.benm.at/ from my iPhone, and then created my own custom one. I'm pretty sure you don't need to jailbreak to do this though.

I'm not looking for just tethering, I want the other benefits of jailbreaking. (customization)

I think I see the problem:

The BlackRa1n jailbreak will work with the latest 3.1.2 firmware; however, it will not hacktivate your iPhone. This means that if you are not on an official Apple approved carrier BlackRa1n cannot activate it.

I spent a while Googling and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Some sites seem to imply that you can just download RC3 of Blackra1n. If I wasn't getting hackivated and needed it, I guess the next thing that I would try would be to download a custom .ipsw using something like Bittorrent or to find a friend with a Mac to make me one using Pwnage tool.

i thought blackra1n RC3 (latest one) has hacktivation included...? i could be wrong though..

I don't need it "hacktivated." I am on an apple approved carrier: AT&T. I did all of the steps in that guide but it doesn't have AT&T carrier settings.

nm I restored my iphone and rejailbroke it with blackrain and it worked this time.
