Absinthe doesn't work with iphone4 using iOS 5.1.1 (9B208). It says the device is not supported.

apple ("silently") pushed out a updated iOS version yesterday morning, so absinthe doesn't work with it. restore to the "older" iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) using felix bruns website - its completely safe to use, as it just grabs each ipsw directly from apple servers. as of right now, iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) is still on there for the gsm iPhone 4. once its finished, go into iTunes, plug in your iPhone 4, press alt/option and restore and it should allow you to manually pick the ipsw to restore to.

you should be good to go after it finishes restoring!

Sneaky of them. I was going to say my iPad 1 updated fine, but I did it right when the new JB was announced.

The "restore factory settings" function will stop working when you jailbreak. If you do it, you'll get a blackscreen and the loading indicator will spin endlessly until you hard-reset the ipad, at which point it goes back to working normal with nothing deleted.

If you wanna wipe your ipad, restore from itunes.

Sooo, does that mean that the password will reset to alpine.

Just to clarify, I changed the iPad password because it was recommeded on several sites after jail breaking, but if I restore the iPad, or unjailbreak, does the password change back to alpine?

If you restore from itunes, yes.

My collective list:

Quasar (must have) - but you must disable it to use multigestures and FaceTime
Ad-Block
Pro Tube HD (I just downloaded a 1.7GB 1080p YouTube video)
iFile
AVPlayerHD
Full Screen Safari (comes with multi-gesture tap commands)
Activator - I've heard rave reviews about it but haven't used it much yet
SwipeSelection tweak

SBSettings - I have this uninstalled right now because I hate the way it looks, and I also found it extremely buggy, but I may install it again because I find myself using the toggles a lot.

IntelliScreenX is supposed to be awesome but I don't really want people seeing what I do on my iPad on my lockscreen.

There's some others I have but I can't really mention...

Now I just need a built in weather forcast app that hangs with the rest of the icons on a separate page. This is how I have my Android phone setup with Fancy Widgets (free).

Next step is to get a Camera Connection kit and cheap 64GB USB key to keep my legal videos on so I don't have to pay $19.99 to watch Iron Man in 1080p on plane or car rides as a passenger when I already own the BluRay.

Good list. I would add XBMC for hardware-accelerated video playback.

Thanks, I'll have to try that out when I get home. I still have to use Handbrake for the first time and I'm also going to try some mkv files.

Just upgraded from 5.0.1, battery life improvements on my 4S are pretty awesome. Pretty light use today but I'm at 87% after nearly 24 hours.

I used xbackup to make a full backup of all Cydia settings and apps, upgraded to 5.1.1 with itunes since it wouldn't work directly from the phone, ran absinthe 2.0.2 and used xbackup again to restore, worked great!

Just be warned that sometimes the iPad doesn't like USB keys. At least my iPad 1 didn't. Would warn me about it consuming too much power. Haven't tried it with the 3 or with a powered hub though. SD cards work best.

That sucks about Quasar. I knew there had to be some drawbacks. Hopefully it can work with those two things soon.

I am itching to jail break but since I'm starting to write app reviews it's probably best if I keep iPad 3 stock. Gotta make sure my experiences with different apps will match the average end user's.

I am guessing that your copy of Iron Man didn't come with a digital copy you could redeem?
