Man I must get off real easy. I got a 115 in Georgia in my Lightning racing another truck (wasn't cited for racing though). And i got 109 on the way to Florida. Both times I only got a speeding ticket and nothing more. I was young and stupid back then 😀

And at night, there is MUCH less traffic. We (me and other "left laners") routinely do 90-100mph on the way home from work, in Columbus.

Just saw a Tanker rearend a car doing 35 in the middle of the Interstate. My wife and I and others were just barely able to get around the guy when we realized how slow they were going but tanker couldn't manuever fast enough, he just ate them up.

If you are going to drive at 35 MPH , don't do it on the High Speed InterState system, that is what local State and County roads are for RoadHogs.

If you're doing 35 on the freeway, you'll get a ticket as well. I've seen two people get pulled over for going too slow and holding up traffic.

5 people behind you? You MUST pull over at the next possible place. The freeway has a minimum speed of 45MPH (unless conditions are adverse)

doing twice the speed limit or if you are going over 100 mph.

Wreckless driving might get you pulled out of your car and
arrested but 6 days in jail? Like other people say, you buddy
has some prior or did something to the officer cause I know
people who have had wreckless driving and they had a huge
tickets and their insurance surged but they didn't get jail time.

I do find it funny though that people keep saying 100 mph
isn't that big deal if you are on the right highway, with the
right traffic and if you are driving this car. Because, I know
they must be coming out with a new speed limit sign,
The if you drive a camaro, and its at night you are allowed to go
100 while the rest of us are going 65. Ask yourself if you really
want a 16 year old kid going 100+ mph when you are on the road
with your family?

I remember riding with this girl to Atlanta four years ago in her brand-new GS400. B!tch did 110 in a construction zone around Anderson SC and got pulled over. I would've told her to slow down had I been awake but I was sleeping like a baby until the car stopped. She went immediately to jail and her car was impounded...her parents had to come bail her out and I had to get someone from Athens to drive up and pick me up.

Yeah, but this assumes a pretty skilled driver. So do you really think any driver in America is going to admit their skills are crap and that they will drive slower than most because of it? And this doesn't address the condition of the car. I see people around here going 75 mph on the interstate in rusted out old pickups with bald tires :Q Americans aren't mentally ready to regulate themselves in most cases. So the law is made to apply to all equally.

And I think in my state if your going 35 mph over the speed limit its an automatic reckless driving and an endangerment ticket. Someone I know got a couple tickets for going crazy fast going to Colorado in HS. I don't think he went to jail but I know he lost his license..

Wreckless driving is the best kind. Reckless, on the other hand..can get you in trouble. I don't know where you live, but hardly anyone does 70 here..and if everybody going 90, I don't want to be 20mph *slower* than the rest of the crowd. For the most part, it's ~75ish...with left lanes at 80-90. Limit is 70.

A kid at my school got up to 160 in his c5 vette. Ive heard of people having to be taken to jail and spend the night for excessive speading but never an actual jail sentance.

In Texas if you go over 100, and are caught, its straight to jail, car impounded, and you have the possibility of having your license revoked once it goes to trial.

I think the main issue is that US drivers have little to no driver training, and it's EXTREMELY easy to get a license. Bascially, open a box of Cracker Jax, and you have a license.

In Germany, they go through a rigorous drivers ed/practice, and take a hefty test, and plop down mucho dinero. While I'm not saying I'd particulary enjoy that, I'd definitely do it without complaining if I could regulary drive 90+ w/o having to worry about some lala-land mom driving a suburban while talking on the Cell phone and beating her 3 kids in the back, or some dumb guy reading the newspaper and shaving. Give me a break.

It's just that people aren't conscious. Early in the mornings when I go to work or whatever, I reguarly have the opportunity to hit 80. But, then inevitably, get behind some tool in the left lane going the (speed limit - 1).

The main danger I see with driving fast is a tire blowout or heavy traffic. But, if it's early in the morn on a saturday, and I'm heading to golf course, I don't see any reason why I can hit about 100mph, and still be safe.

There is NO WAY your friend got "Jail time" for "Just a speeding ticket". Your friend is lying to you and you haven't seen all the charges. There are several situations that would cause him to get jail time.

1. He has priors
2. He got street racing or racing a cop
3. He got reckless driving, speeding, and other tickets.

You cannot go to jail for a speeding ticket as it is not a vehicular felony offense on a road way. You cannot go to jail for a simple speeding violation unless you have broken some sort of parole violation or have previous priors on your record that allow for jail time if you get other tickets.

More than likely if he doesn't have any priors, he got reckless driving and something to do with street racing (which is illegal and a vehicular felony in some states). This will get him some light jail time. Plus the fact it was a cop he was messing with.

Don't believe what this guy is telling you, he's hiding something.

Lots of states have speeding tickets rules that if you are doing 24+ you go to jail. Not necessarily reckeless either.
