you rented a FORD?

why?

:)

were you asking for crap?

the interior is quite nice, but the center console just looks like it came from a Focus.

otherwise, it is a cramped car with measily pickup (test drove the 2.5 manual)

Surely you're not suggesting that an American engine should replace an English engine? Need you be reminded of the Corvette's 6.0 liter engine producing a mere 400hp, while the Aston Martin's 6.0 liter engine produces 500hp+ ?

The 3.5L Duratec is
a) about 6 years late to the party. Every competitor has had DOHC 4 valve-per-cylinder for ages.
b) Not taking our breath away. 270hp. From a brand new, white sheet engine. Even Nissan has them beat.
c) Not available for another year, at least. At which point, it will be even more late.

When it comes down to it, the only thing American cars have going for them is that they're cheap. Everything about them is done better by other cars.

A Jag with a Jaguar engine is infinitely more desirable than a Jag with some bastard American engine, sullying the Jaguar gene pool with it's colony building, tea trashing, coffee drinking, gas guzzling "displacement queen."

My god you're ignorant. Come back when you learn a thing or two about engines.

Uhh... the Aston Martin engine is a V12 in a $150,000 car whereas the LS2 V8 is in a $40,000 car. Yeah, those English engineers are just SO much smarter than the American ones, considering that we're comparing apples to apples here

I suppose you missed the part where I said the only advantage of American cars it that they're cheap? Because that pretty much takes care of this point.

I drove the 3.0 before and found it rather nice. I loved the interior on it too. Much nicer than say an Accord/Camry/Taurus....etc. The only thing I didn't like was that the Air conditioning one the system was rathery noisey. Its like it was being hindered by poorly designed vents.

BTW, the X type now with incentives is somewhere in the 23-25k range. Not a bad buy when compared with Accords and Camrys.

is it really only 23-25 with the incentives?? if so IMHO that isn't that bad of a deal for that car considering I paid about 19K for my Contour SVT a few years back and I would assume the Jag to be of slightly less performance but far better interior build quality.

Heck for 23K I would easily take that over an accord, camry, or saab (probabily its closest competitor)...

The Aston Martin engine is not some kind of engineering marvel. It's a V12 so the internals for each cylinder are lighter, allowing it to rev higher and more freely. It's a higher-reving higher-compression engine. The LS2 is more fuel-efficient, boost friendly, and no doubt more reliable/less expensive to maintain. Now if the Aston Martin engine had all of the advantages of the LS2 while making 100hp more, you could talk about how crappy American engineers are. But it doesn't, so STFU
