Firebird is the successor to Mozilla.

They are both based on the Gecko engine, so assuming Mozilla prime development still continues, the latest version of each are similar in that aspect, but Firebird's lower profile is well worth it. In other words, Firebird is better. If you need mail and news, get Thunderbird as well.
