Jade Empire

I had Jade Empire on my modded Xbox back in the day. After playing it, it's one I would have paid full price for, but I'm not immediately sure what I'd compare it to. It's a 3rd-person action RPG I guess is what I would call it, you have to do decently well in combat or you won't advance etc. so it's not just a snoozefest in that regard.

it's not bad. a few parts are impossibly hard, i swear. for the most part, it's some good button-mashing fun. i'd say worth the $7

some styles are ridiculously overpowered though, hehe.

The story is top notch. The twist is just as good if not better than KOTOR's IMHO.

There's also a lot of combat. Some fights on the harder levels are utterly brutal. There are fairly big jumps in difficulty lvls. For a first time, I suggest trying normal diff.

Good styles to try include leaping tiger, storm dragon, spirit thief, and jade golem. Those were probably my favorites.

storm dragon is so incredibly unfair 😀

So is Jade Golem. Extremely overpowered. I love Jade Empire even though I can beat it in about 11 hours, and that's when I do nearly everything. Good game though.

never used that one 🙁

Its short, with an emphasis on action. On the PC version, it suffers from numerous bugs and no patches. The game won't actually install on my system for some reason any more. Not sure why. It hasn't been high only list of things to trouble shoot lately. The camera was pretty fubar'd too.

But, for 7 dollars, I'd still probably buy it.

It's a good game. Your allies are pretty much useless in combat, so they all stand on the sidelines in their "support" roles (regenerating your stats). The combat's decent and there are lots of quests and some interesting choices for plotlines.

I bought it a few months after it came out on PC and didn't like it much. Played it for around 3-4 hours then resold it. Grab KOTOR first if you've never played it, much better game IMO.

If it was a little more optimized i would agree. That game is filled with bugs, even after patching it.

It's worth $7, got it for around that much from GoGamer. There is an occasional glitch where the screen gets stuck facing downward when you move from one area to the next. You need to reload the level to fix this. So remember to save often. If you're running vista, it's technically not supported but it worked for me on 64-bit. Just remember to run as administrator.

Jade Golem = you win button

My advice: only use it if you can't win the fight any other way.

Mirabelle is fun. 😉

Oh, and OP: definitely worth it. Incidentally, it's the first RPG I know where you can have a threesome.

Does it use the D20 system?
Nope, realtime beat-em-up combat (with parameters defined by your character's attributes).

It's another way-too-easy-but-great-story Bioware game. Absolutely worth a few bucks. I don't remember it being a bugfest when I played. (About a year ago...)

I payed <$10 for it. It was worth it. It is an xbox port job, so expect low resolution cut scenes and odd menu systems. It is not as good as KOTOR, but KOTOR was not even in the same league as Baldurs Gate 2.

I liked it. Not as good as KOTOR and a bit short. But IIRC, the KOTOR team is the same one that made Jade Empire.

Also, IIRC, the PC version comes with Securom. 🙁

I think I'd rather have Mass Effect... also a console port, but at least it's a console port from the current generation. Isn't it only around $15 or $20?
