It took away from the Terrific job of whoever put on the pre-game Ceremonies which were excellent.

The massive Band was great.

The tribute to Columbia was excellent.

Bravo Beyonce, that was a very different and very well done redention of the SSB.

What happened to the girls wearing lingerie playing football show? Was that supposed to be a commercial, or on another channel? Couldn't find it 🙁

Last rumor I heard was that it was to be an HBO Pay-per-view event.

2-2-2004 FCC 'Outraged' by Halftime Show Mishap

In a statement, FCC (news - web sites) Chairman Michael Powell said, "I am outraged at what I saw during the halftime show of the Super Bowl. Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration. Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt. Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better."

"I have instructed the commission to open an immediate investigation into last night's broadcast," he said, vowing it would be "thorough and swift." Earlier, an FCC spokeswoman, Suzanne Tetreault, said it was launching a routine investigation because it had received complaints.

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show," Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said. "They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.

"It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

In an interview posted on MTV.com in the days before the show, Jackson's choreographer, Gil Duldulao, talked about the show, saying: "She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too."

Of course, nothing to be concerned about with the Lyrics of P'Diddy, Nelly, and Kid Rock (I'm more familiar with the lyrics to K.R., the songs they played had a few nice choice references to drug abuse). But heaven forbid a boobie be shown on TV!

...'moveon' could have earned my respect if they had used body-paint and put the URL to the ad on Janet's breastisis; that would have made my weekend.

lol, that move might have given a little too much ammunition to their critics 😉. right now they can be outraged over CBS banning them while allowing someone to show their breast.

as for the actual performance and breast showing, nobody at my house was outraged by it, not even the females. the only question that seemed to come out of it was how they managed to get that past the censors. wonder if we'll hear some high-handed speech about curbing performance artists' 'wild behavior' from el presidante in the next couple of weeks?

Honestly, I have already grown tired of the ?woe-is-me how am I going to explain this filth to my children? people; I would much rather have kids see a breast on TV and have to explain it, than to have them listen to the [Kenneth] Star Report and explain why a woman had a cigar shoved into her vagina. Moreover, some clown who writes for the Washington Post has a piece today whining about the ad for the upcoming Van-something movie and about how it ?was filled with monsters? and not given a rating yet, so it was inappropriate for his children to see [all 15 seconds of it]?Hillary says it ?Takes a Village,? but what do you do when the village is full of idiots?

You know what's really outrageous ?
The fact that they are making such a big deal about this little 'Flashing' on TV -
but if it had been a WWF event and they cut it off with a Chain-Saw it would be O.K.

Turns out Janet Jackson is to release a new Album in 2 weeks. The parent Company of her Record Label is of course owned by CBS (Columbia). The whole thing was rotten from the very core.

I'd pick them because they're both younger and current. Still, you can hardly make the claim that both Beyonce and Jessica Simpson are "soft".
If I had permission . . . and that's a huge if . . . I guarantee you that Beyonce and Jessica Simpson are soft on both bumpers.

Powell should be outraged by his deplorable behavior as FCC chairman. Notice he didn't say classless, crass, and deplorable halftime show . . . the whole thing was low brow to me.

Admittedly, I missed Timberlake's boob bandit routine b/c I had enough watching them hump on stage . . . plus I had work to do.

What I don't understand is what is there to investigate? It's obvious what happened. Janet Jackson got Justin Timberlake to help her perform an act of lewdity in order to create a wave of notoriety for herself and boost album sales.

OK, I'm a little confused . . . did she keep dancing around with her boobie hanging out?

No, this happened in the final seconds....gave us a peek, then the network cut it off and flashed the CBS logo on the screen...

Man, why the such a big deal about one boob?
Why such prudishness? i don't get it...

...because parents might actually have to talk to their children and explain the intricacies of the human anatomy? As CaptainKirk correctly stated above, "if it had been a WWF event and they cut it off with a Chain-Saw it would be O.K."

I guess American parents should never take their children to the public swimming pools throughout most of Europe...

OMG!! Noooeess! The parents might have to explain to their children about their bodies....the horror!!

I find it fascinating that a culture of barbarians at the coliseum watching the Christians eat the lions could get so uptight by seeing a breast. What do a bunch of uncultured savages know about taste. I was at a play after which we went for Italian family style dinner. Oh, man the food, it was delicioso with a bottle of Piaggione chianti.

Rats crawl out of the sewer to rant about the gutter.

Who are you to criticize the others' parenting? There are two facts that shoot your sarcastic, snide argument to sh!t.

1. The superbowl was rated PG.

1. Nudity is not supposed to be in PG shows.

These are the two relevent facts to this situation. Whether or not parents should discuss human anatomy with their children is THEIR business and completely beside the point. Telling parents that a show is rated PG which has stipulatations about language and nudity and then have them see a woman bare her breast during halftime is switch and bait, plain and simple. All this garbage about violence vs. nudity is also beside the point. The rating was violated(no matter what that rating stipulates about violence), therefore people have a right to complain.

Bottom line: parents were promised PG and they got MA. End of story.

😀

Passive participation is not my thing. Went riding yesterday, then made a roast, someone liked it and showed me the real thing.🙂

Where did they post the "PG" rating? Who told the parents that the Super Bowl is PG? Given the level of "violence," I would have assumed that it would be rated "R." You may be right, but I would like to see an official 'rating release'...where could I get this?

PG - Parental Guidance Suggested: May Not Be Suitable for Children

...these movies contain material that parents "might not like to expose to their young children" and suggests the content "will clearly need to be examined or inquired about before children are allowed to attend the film." (It is the goal of our website to help parents find that information.) Although "explicit sex scenes" are not allowed, brief nudity is, along with moderate levels of horror and violence.

...about these "facts" and "sh!t arguments," would you like to play again, sir?
