I'm looking to build another box and I noticed the iwill xp333 has that nice pci divider in its bios. sooo.. seti likes high fsb, right? anyone running seti on a xp333(-r) with a nice big fsb? insane3d? any other recomedations are welcome, but I would prefer to stick to AMD.

any constructive advice apprectiated.

ok I'm currently getting just over 4 hrs per WU on my current set up. ECS k7s5a@146 fsb 1600xp. (rock stable). I'm looking to build another ~1700xp box.

should I go to the "dark side"(intel)? those northwood are oc'n real nice.😉 from what I read. but I am on a budget. I'm trying to stay under ~$250 for mb/cpu/(256+)RAM.

I think you get far better value for money if you go for AMD and are looking for WU output, I wouldnt even entertain the Intel idea.

Sorry, I dont have experience of that motherboard, but combine it with some nice PC2700 DDR memory for a nice FSB ceiling! 😀

Got my Asus A7V333 with XP2000+ oc'd from 1670 to 1812 (12.5x145 - can go higher, just have to play more with Vcore settings). Currently does a WU in around 3:30-3:45, depending on angle. 🙂

Mushkin PC2100 DDR. Would probably do better with some PC2700, but I'm happy so far! 🙂

Going to play with voltage and see if I can get 150 FSB or better. Haven't unlocked CPU yet, but that's coming up next... 😉

Great!

Yeah it would be cool to know how you get on. I tried overclocking my 1700+ (I have Crucial PC2100) and game up as it was unstable (eventually) after 6 hours of SETI on 140 FSB... :/

IJ, Is your system running Win XP? My average time on boxes with 1600+ OC'ed a bit is as follows:

WIN_XP 7.2 7 3h29m

KT266A 7.3 8 3h15m

The KT266A runs Win98SE and is a little faster than the one with XP Pro. Once reason it looks like a bigger difference is that XP is given the VLAR WUs by SetiQueue. To see the exact configuration on these boxes see my sig below.

i have been playing with my xp333-r for a while ....between rma-ing one board and waiting for my water cooling stuff and power supply to get here...i havent been able to run seti yet....i have a goal....to run w/u's in under 3 hours....this thing is going to rock...(someday)

panhead49- why did you rma the board? if you don't mind me asking.

the more I look around this board seems to have the "ECS(k7s5a) aura". meaning some people love it/praise it while some people curse it/dasm it. it just looks so tasty being able to run 180/190(200) fsb!😉 lots of peeps are claiming very good memory scores and seti seems to like that right??

I'm not in a big hurry to build another rig, I would just like somethng else to play with(and get a few more WU's in the process😀)

my first board would not boot after a bios setting change..........first time it took 10-20 reboots to get it up .......this last time it would'nt come up at all.....rma...they gave me a new one.....

im thinking like you......this board is test bed, i am playing with it(pelter..water cooling)....im going to see how fast i can get a xp2000.....im trying for 2 gig......just going to be a seti rig....for now.....

yea panhead, I agree-testbed. but those fsb's-mmmm I gotta via(msi k7266pro) on the way. swore I wouldn't get another via but the deal was to good😉 to pass up. maybe I have enough 'toys" to play with to keep me occupied and keep my mind off 200fsb goodness, but.......ah well just wondered if any one was running seti w/190+ sync mem.😀 thats just gotta be good for seti! from what I understand anyway😕
