I dl'd the latest BIOS and awdflash.exe to my floppy drive and extracted them the standard way with the files exactly the way the normally extracted and BIOS couldnt find awdflash.exe and I got rid of everything except for the .bin file and the awdflash.exe file only to get the same result. I also tried dling awdflash.exe from a couple of other places as well and also tried double clicking and not doubleclicking the file before rebooting to do the flash but to no avail. I have BIOS set to boot to the floppy and BIOS set to flashable. What am I doing wrong? I need this flash to get RTCW to load properly because this BIOS is supposed to cure the I\O errors during install that cause it to BSOD. Thanks a lot Matt.

1) i assume you're doing the *actual* booting off of a win98 or similar boot disk correct?

2) after that, you're going to a:\ and typing "awdflash" right?

Actually I was told by a few people that my mobo doesnt require a boot disk. All I had to do is hit Alt and F2 to flash BIOS. This option appears right before the system specs scroll up. It then says "searching for awdflash.exe", then it says it cant find it.

Set bios to"boot-up floopy seek" and not boot from floppy as"First Device", leave your hardrive as first device.
You need to download the bios into a bootable cleanly formatted floppy with nothing else on it.
Then extract the downloaded files on the floppy.
Then start-up the computer with the bootable floppy in the drive, while prssing Alt+F2.
The bios programme should then take it from there.

I had the same problem!

That flash ulitity creates the flash files in a folder!
but the files must be located on the floppy disks root and not in a folder!
so check that

You have to go into BIOS SETUP and change the default which disables BIOS flashing to enable it -- it is on one of the later screens and you use Page Down to change it from DISABLED to ENABLED.

Take the file you downloaded and copy it into an empty folder -- I always have one called [Install from] -- then double click on it so that it explodes (unzips) into its individual files.

Copy all those files onto a bootable floppy -- format /s -- which if you are running W2K or other NT you need to make on a WIN98 machine and put that floppy into the drive.

Then reboot and on that first POST screen hit ALT + F2

That will then run the awdflash.exe file which is on the floppy with the other files including the KK1022.BIN which is the actual update file.

The readme gives you the procedure where you let it go all the way through to boot up to the floppy and then type:

AWDFLASH.EXE /CC /CD /CP

which is what I did yesterday but today I hit ALT = F2 and it ran through and flashed the BIOS up to 10/22/01

Good luck

Correction:

which is what I did yesterday but today I hit ALT = F2

should read: which is what I did yesterday but today I hit ALT + F2

Sorry about that.
