i had a question...

a while ago, i started getting this unknown flash type error... i tried flashing the newest bios but it wouldn't flash...

does anyone have a suggestion to correct this?

or know where i can find where to fix this... thanks!

Go into "Iwill Smart Settings" in the BIOS and change Flash Type to "Flashable". Also make sure you didn't get the KK266-R, KK266+, or KK266+-R BIOS.

Ok. Looking at the BIOS page right now. Try flashing the one from May, and see if it will allow it to replace the existing BIOS. I hate to keep saying this, "Make sure the Flash ROM Type is set to 'flashable'". 😀 Even I have done that many of times, and that's how I recognize the "CHECKSUM" error. 😛 If the May BIOS works fine, just try upgrading to the June one, then the October one. Hope this helps, and sorry it took so long to get back to you. I try to stay up to date with other Iwill users. 😛

I tried the may one already... it didn't work... i've tried a lot of different things.. it didn't work..a nd i made sure it was on flashable... it didn't work..

one of my flash's..many moons ago .......i thought i had everything there....and got the same message as you........reread iwill's site tech for flashing bios and found my error......not the right files on floppy

Also... I believe there's a few specific command line switches you must use to flash with...

I think it was /cc /cd /cp or something.

if you have all the right file on the floppy you dont need to use any switchs................type adwflash and watch the show..........you enter (type in)the name of the new bios file......if you want ,..you save the old bios file.... done.....reboot....

If you follow tho Iwill site they will deliver you to an FAQ
That is excellent
www.x-faqtor.com

or you can find it by using the forums in ocworkbench
which I think is simpler
the effort in volved will be recovered many times over.

At least it has for me.

The switches are just to make it to where you don't have to type anything in the process. 😛 Good to use though, that way you can just let it run until it's finished.
