hey all... quick question.

Ive been having weird problems and random lock ups on my box. I think ive tracked it down to the way my pci cards are set up....

Quick background... Running xp on a 1.2 ghz tbird (not overclocked)

Ati Radeon 64 meg ddr vivo - AGP (duh :)

Sblive platinum 5.1
2 nic cards

Any clue on an optimal pci layout for these?

Might be an IRQ conflict. On an ACPI enabled system which yours is 99% likely to be, running XP you won't be able to changed the IRQ for individual devices. Try and see if say the Live and the Network are sharing an IRQ. Certain devices are fussy about this. If you change the slot that a card is in then XP will redetect it and reassign the IRQ. Usually certain slots will automatically share an IRQ with other slots. Usually the AGP and PCI Slot 1 wil share, for example. Hope this helps.

I haven't had such problems with mine in my sig. When I had my modem connected I had it in the bottom pci slot, and my nic was in the third from the bottom. And my AGP video card was um...in the AGP slot...lol

Also running winXP btw
