My goal for Christmas is to have accumulated enough GREAT deals to have enough stuff to assemble a new computer system with my daughter for her to take back to grad school.

So far I have a DVD-ROM, a 48x burner, a 17" monitor, an 80 gig HD, a set of Yamaha speakers and 2x 256k DDR memory, a tote bag, and cd-player and a boat load of software for a total investment net of PM, coupons, MIRs, shipping and taxes of $169.

I'm looking at that $taples deal with the IM#s for the motherboard (with sound and LAN onboard) and CPU worthy of the DDR ram (hopefully under $150), but need a few more things here.

An AMD certified case that will hold all this stuff.

A really neat keyboard and mouse combo.

A video card.

A floppy drive and probably a zip drive (do people still use those?).

Oh! And a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Pro or XP.

So, all you merchants out there, let's get some deals posted!!
 
dont really know what to look for in digital camera's; but i'm looking for a good ~2 megapixel camera w/ optical zoom and lcd screen for under 250

[*]cheap IDE HDD over 2gigs, no storage req's beyond that, just very cheap. It will (hopefully) be used in a set of burbies for nothing more strenuous than playing counterstrike, so 5400rpm is fine
[*]Yamaha CRW-F1 at a reasonable price... right now the irrisistible feature is diskt@2, but when I can get the Samsung SM332 DVD 12x + CD-RW 32x12x40 Combo Drive with free roxio for $85, I just can't do it.
[*]Samsung CDRW black drive bezel... its been impossible to find so far, and I need one for previously mentioned drive.

Can anyone suggest a place to find a great deal on window blinds (actual blinds for windows in your house, not the software)? I've done the Google thing and come up with about a bazillion sites, but am looking for some feedback from anyone who might have had experience with any of them. B&M suggestions would be great as well !

Looking for cheap-@ss ATX cases for my DC herd now that ComputerGeeks isn't carrying the midtower ATX cases they usually have. Quality is not of the highest concern, but I don't want my mobos to catch fire either 😉

Anyone know the best place for student loans that doesnt take into consideration the amount of student need? My lameass school didn't factor in living costs in the need, so I'm screwed for federal student loans. I need to get a loan with a low interest rates, any help is much appreciated. I've checked with citiassist.com and golden1 to no avail. Also, where is a good place to get a regular loan (if that is what comes down to)? Thanks in advance

I'm looking for a cheap Video Card Fan replacement. The one on my 32MB Nvidia TNT2 card died, and now I'm experienceing overheat problems (at least I think so...my screen freezes on me after prolonged computer use).

I'll eventually buy a whole new card, but since this is my 3rd computer in the house, I'm reluctant to upgrade just now.

The Heatsink that's on the Card itself is pretty small (about the size of an old 386 CPU - remember those?)
