I haven't gotten the chance to play BF3 with my 2500K at stock speeds, but at 4.5GHz it breezed through even the most demanding scenarios with the GPU bottlenecking it.

Since you have the money, get the 3770K.
BF3 MultiPlayer is using 6 to 8 threads. Game play will be much smoother with the Core i7 than Core i5. In some maps a default core i5(non OC) makes the game unplayable even with a high end Video card.

The combination of Core i7(OC) and GTX670 is perfect for BF3 MP.

I played until last week with a Q9450 (oc'd to 3.2) all day in 64 player maps with no problems. I now have a 3570K stock, it does seem smoother but once again plays 64 player maps all day with no problems.

If you are having problems I suspect they are elsewhere then with a 3570K setup.

I hate this question. Why does it matter if they have a 1kw PSU? I have one and I'm not close to loading it up to max. I got it because I didn't want to ever worry about the PSU being too weak. If I want to SLI or something I can and not need to count watts and amps.

For the topic on hand... 3570k is my recommendation (updated BIOS first). It's a little better clock for clock vs a SB processor so even if it doesn't clock past 4.3Ghz it's still really fast.

yup, pretty much my reasoning right there

and i got it with my coolermaster case... so far it's lasted me over 4-5 years which is more than i can say for any PSU in the past... no complaints whatsoever.

Epic, go for the 3570K and save $100 on the 680 and get a $400 Gigabyte Windforce 3X or MSI GTX670 Power Edition or similar. That's $200 saved for a future GPU upgrade that will net you 50% or more performance increase down the line. Neither the 3770 nor the 680 will do much for you. Later on you'll appreciate the $200 saved towards a GTX800 series or similar.

The CPU comes with standard fan, but I often hear that once you start overclocking that you have to buy an after market fan, simply because the stock one does not keep it cool enough, after OC. That's another $50 if I'm not wrong.

But you would have to spend that $50 on either the 3770k or the 3570k so your $100 savings is still there.

I don't understand? the 3770 is $310 Shipped at NewEgg and the 3570K is $230 at NewEgg Shipped. The initial "Value" difference between the 2 the CPU's is only $80. So if I did go with the 3570K and I save $80 but then I OC so I have to buy an after market fan/cooler which is going to cost me another $40, so how am I saving $100? Being optimistic the most I will save is $50

Thats even more of a reason to go with a 3570k

An overclocked 3570k is going to outperform a 3770 quite easily, and you still save a few bucks

I take it that you have seeing my other post through my page, but just need to say that there is no need to go there again just like 6 other people did. Instead of making remarks like that why don't people kindly inform me of what advantages there is between the i5 Ivy and i7 Ivy. I would like if someone could direct me in the right direction.
