they want a 2 year commitment so the players have a while to train and practice with each other, so they can actually play like a team this time around.Originally posted by: Aquaman
Isn't it a bit early to make a team for 2008?

No. This will give them 2 off-seasons to practice together. Team sports like basketball are tough for the US because the international teams play together year round most of the time. Talent alone can only take you so far in basketball when playing against formidable competition.

We should just send the Detroit Pistons to represent.
So they can get beat by Ginobili like last year?

NBA players on Team USA's training camp roster
Carmelo Anthony
Gilbert Arenas
Shane Battier
Chauncey Billups
Chris Bosh
Bruce Bowen
Elton Brand
Kobe Bryant
Dwight Howard
Josh Howard
LeBron James
Antawn Jamison
Joe Johnson
Rashard Lewis
Shawn Marion
Brad Miller
Chris Paul
Paul Pierce
Michael Redd
Luke Ridnour
Amare Stoudemire
Dwyane Wade
Shaquille O'Neal has an open invitation, along with three young players (article states Adam Morrison, JJ Redick, and Greg Oden are the leading candidates)
My starting lineup would be:
Billups
Bryant
James
Stoudemire
Shaq (if he goes)

Odd that Lewis got the nod over Ray Allen. Ben Wallace got robbed too. He's an incredible athlete and defender.
No Chris Bosh either. He would make a good PF/C.

Looking at that list though I'd say the best starting line-up is
Paul
Billups
Bowen
Bosh
Stoudemire
With Wade, Brand, and Howard coming off the bench.
A nice mix of scoring, athleticism, and defense, as well as no egomaniacs.

Those in bold should not be there. Way out of their league.

Kobe Bryant not in your starting lineup?...for record let me just dispell the "Kobe is selfish" statements right now.And to the above^statement about Kobe shooting this team to last place....

Kobe is a one-on-one player. He does not fit into the team concept. He can not break a zone, or move without the ball.

With that roster, the other teams should just forfeit.

😕 I wonder how he can constantly break free and still pull off clutch shots, when teammates are looking for him?

people tend to forget that the best player to feed the ball to Shaq is Kobe.
