I've taken 2.5 weeks off

Just got back into things after 2.5 weeks. Talk about discouraging! My WOD was 4 rounds: 185 lb back squat, 400 meter run. My 1 RM back squat was 300 lbs and I struggled at 155 for this wod, felt like death on the running portions. Jesus getting back to crossfit sucks.

It wasn't the volume of the back squat either, my whole body just felt out of place trying to push 185 lbs. It felt like it was at least 50-60 lbs heavier. Is this normal? I usually don't lift over the weekends, so this coming week I'll be back in full force, but I just hope I haven't lost as much as it feels like right now. Could some of it be my body just getting primed to lift after that much time off?

I think it's normal for the first few workouts after a break to be harder. It shouldn't take long for you to be where you were before though.

I hope so. It's discouraging to feel like 25% of my gains are completely gone. According to someone I was chatting with they said the first thing that loses conditioning is the nervous system and that, often, weights feel heavier simply because your body isn't primed to lift them.

Had you been back squatting a lot prior to that? I've been doing mainsite CF (a few months delayed) since January and have gone heavy in squats maybe once a month max, which is just not enough. The other day the WOD was 5x5 back squats and I struggled working up to 255x5. Last year on SS I was at 3x5 @ 315lbs and my best single was 340. I was so mad and disappointed that 255 for reps gave me trouble. My adductors were blased from it for 4 days too. Lesson learned: need to supplement more strength work if I continue to follow mainsite (or more likely switch to other CF programming).
