If you have some unpartitioned space, it's super easy. If not, I think you can use Partition Magic or some such program to take your partitioned free space and make it into another partition.

The above are just the ones I use on a regular basis so they come to mind quite fast.

Something which you might not realize is that a lot of linux users prefer the console mode over the gui mode. Why? Because it gives you
more control over what your doing. Please note that not everyone is like that, I know a linux user who prefers the gui mode, to each their own.

I can hardly wait for Kde 3.1, them screenshots just look amazing.

GUI!? There's a gui!? Wait, there's a console!? I thought linux boxes could only be accessed via windows and ssh! :Q

Personally I only use console. But I also only use linux as a testbed for webapps and what not. And I do it by sshing via winXP. So I can't be as condescending as most linux users. But I try!

let us know if you feel like you are more productive now that you made the switch.

i didn't switch for productivity reasons...i switched to see what all the hype is about. Granted, i've only been using it for a couple hours now, but it's nothing special.

Personally, I think you really need a clear reason for using linux. If you just want to use it as a general OS (web browsing, watching dvds), you probably won't see any improvement over windows.

Here's my suggestion if you're looking to do something with linux. Find an old computer. Install apache and ssh. Ssh into your linux box via windows, and have fun hosting your own webpage. Install mysql to organize your pr0n collection, and make it searchable via your webpage! :Q
