I have a base RSX. I like it a lot. But get a type-s.

That -s badge is worth the extra money. Why is it worth the money? I have no idea. :)

I have a 2005 RSX-S (vivid blue pearl) and I absolutely love it. Bought it in Sept 2004, and I've put 22k miles on it its first year.

I test drove faster cars (TL, G35c, 350Z Track, etc) and they were really nice, but I just couldn't afford them. I'm really happy with the RSX-S because I get great handling and decent power with Honda/Acura reliablity and okay gas mileage. I never test drove cars like the STi or Lancer Evo, but I figured if I did I would just be sad later :)

I guess it's also obvious that I was only looking at Japanese cars.

Be warned though that the Type S requires premium gas, but I do average city/hwy about 27 miles per gallon overall.

The final advantage of the RSX (base and S) over other cars (even other Acuras) is that it is built entirely in Japan. The TSX also is, but the MDX and TL are not. May not make a difference but every bit helps! :)

My 05 was $22,300, and my out the door price was a shade under $25k.

Cramped, mediocre gas mileage, high insurance, overpriced, overrated, and underperforming.
Tell that to car & drivers affordable sports car article in their last issue.
C&D is hardly a reliable source. Do you ever actually read their "comparos"? They frequently pick as the winner the car that actually lost in the scoring. Or they add some fictional item like "fun factor" and then weight it heavily enough so that the preferred car (usually a Honda) wins. Even better is when they pick a particular manufacturers contractor to do the judging and then act like he's a neutral expert and neglect to mention his conflict of interest (as they did with Millen in their original STi vs. Evo test, "New-Wave Slingshots," June 2003).

Not to hijack the thread, but I'll say that I trust C&D's reviews more than any other magazine out there. They choose winners based on what they like in a car: i.e. performance and fun-to-drive factor. Practicality usually comes in much farther down the list, unless the price/performance ratio is too great to ignore.

If you have the same mindset as the C&D reviewers, then it's a great magazine. If you don't...then it's still a great magazine, with some great testers and editors.

Thats pretty damm good.
I was only getting 28 MPG with the old Si.

Tough decision.
98%, I won't even need the extra power so to save money + better gas milage + lower insurance is tempting.

What is your spending budget? I would invest the extra $1-2k and get the nicer ones (in a better color unless you like white) for $15-14.

Yeah, but you NEED that 6-speed! :) 2nd and 5th are my favorite gears by far :)

Man ol man....read the original post....he has the original wheels for them.
If its not the wheels you're talking about, then why ?? It looks just like every other S with a Typr R wing.

I like white just a personal reference.

1) Its from a dealer and I hate buying from dealers(probably harder for me to get that price down)
2) It has 57K miles...11K more than one I'm looking at.
3) No wing. RSX doesn't look good without a wing and I would have to drill holes.
4) I do like black but the white look better to me personally.

And I wish people would stop commenting on how that type S is ugly.
He has the original wheels and people would feel differently if they were on the car.

I see, alotta high mileage vehicles in your area. Just so you know, sometimes it's a good idea to call up dealers too, not all dealers list their entire inventory online. And check out major rental/fleet companies.

base RSX/02-05 SIs are slow as f*ck. manual is mid 16 sec car at best, auto is into 17s.

If you are seriously considering an RSX-S, get the new civic SI. vtec.net has dynos already and they dyno more HP at the axles than the 05 RSX-S. MSRP is expected to be very close to 20K even, and comes with an LSD stock which the RSX-S does not. Seems like Honda is willing to cannibalize RSX sales to recover mindshare for the civic/SI.

ugh, in this case, maybe consider an 03 accord 5MT I4 coupe before a base RSX. Cheaper to insure, mid to high 15s with manual. Stock handling crappy, but easily fixed with sway bars.

Trust me, I'm lusting over the new Si.
In fact the BLACK Si from the site is my wall paper.

If you read my reasoning, I'll have to wait a while for the Si and I think the price will be at a premium.
I wouldn't even mind spending the $20K but I can wait.

My thought process is to own a RSX for a couple of yrs, sell it(won't be too much of a loss) and then buy a Si...a used one prefereably.

For a ricer, I think it's pretty tastefully done.

Thats not a good listing.
Its a base and its the same price as the example....just 15K miles less.

You apparently don't really care about mileage then. The owner strikes me as one who takes care of his car. The fact that he went out of his way to detail the outside and INSIDE of his car then takes multiple pictures of his car shows this.
